So its 4/20 today and it so happens to coincide with Easter Sunday, a holy holiday for Christians, and a Pagan holiday for those who celebrate the Easter Bunny. Isn’t that special? Now then, there has been this years-old debate on legalizing marijuana, with many people this year for the first time, are toward legalization. ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/2 ... 69420.html)
Pro-marijuana legalization has gained a lot of ground since then, with organizations with dedicated research and legal teams, along with the more neutral scientific research teams that post their findings that are calling into question about marijuana’s supposed effects that warrant it be classified as a Schedule I drug in the first place, which pro-legals do use their findings to advance their case. And why do they advance their case? Because the circumstances that got marijuana to be illegal was a combination of racism, yellow journalism, greedy and or corrupt business executives, corrupt and ignorant legislators, and personal advancement, all unjust.
So I would like to ask of you, do you think marijuana should be legalized and have the government reexamine its status as a drug or not?
Here are some resources to help with the discussion.

Yeah, I think it should be legalized. It would mean that a HELL of a lot less people would be in jail and the government could tax it. Besides, there's no real reason for it to be illegal in the first place, considering that it poses virtually no health hazards, especially compared to legal drugs like alcohol and nicotine.

That's some interesting non-liberally, and pro-pot biased facts and sources you have there.
Anyway, I think Marijuana should be branded as a Schedule II or III drug. Not nearly enough research has been done on the drug, so I think more should be done before any decisions are made. That being said it would make sense to legalize Marijuana from a socio-economic standpoint due to the high incarceration rate for non-violent drug offenders and the money lost enforcing the failing prohibitions. It would also wipe out a lot of drug cartels, since people would take their business to public dispensaries rather than buy it illegally.

It's a manner of when, not if, pot is legalized.

It's actually 20/4/2014 today. The calendar that the USA uses is all wrong.
Also, why are we talking about Marijuana on Easter? I'm starting to hate everyone jumping at the mere mention of the words "4" and "20" in the same sentence. It doesn't have to instantly coincide with Marijuana!

Marijuana has helped children with epilepsy. I saw a bunch of new reports on TV and they were very interesting. Although the medicine that these kids are given contains very little marijuana dosage, it is still an important part of helping these children out. Since many states in the union have not yet legalized recreational marijuana, parents of children with epilepsy have urgently moved to Colorado or Washington, two of the states were recreational marijuana usage is now legal. This has been the only hope & problem-solver for parents of the children that deal with this condition.

I wouldn't say it's the only hope. Also, why do you mention recreational marijuana? The kids with epilepsy that you mentioned would have been given medical marijuana which is different than recreational.

Oh true. It is true though that many states in the union have not yet legalized the recreational use of marijuana. It is one of the hopes for the parents - the medical marijuana provided to these children stops their seizures and makes them feel a lot better, it sure is some kind of hope at least for the most part.

Think logically, everything is bad for you in excessive amounts, even good, healthy things. So yes, everything can be bad. In terms of marijuana, or cannabis, yes people sure think just because it is a "drug" it is all bad, but with recent research it has been found out that it might also have health importance, in the field of medicine for example. However, their is a clear separation between marijuana users. Those that use it for medical purposes and then there are those who use it for the hell of it... whether it's too look cool, they are stoners... I mean their are some kids at my school that literally stink of the scent of marijuana. Anyhow, the thing is, I'd say the majority of marijuana users simply use it to get high, they enjoy the "high".
