SMBX Broken Graphics

Postby Kunaimaster » Thu Feb 11, 2016 6:58 am

Hello :)
I have a problem with playing SMBX on my computer. I don't know when it started, probaly a year ago.
You see - when I try to play the game, something goes wrong and graphics are a little messed up.
I don't know what can be cause of this and I still couldn't find any solutions. I didn't install anything that changes the system, neither changed things in it. And parts of my computer are up-to-date and work.
I've posted my problem on another forum, but they couldn't help me in any way. I think it may be something related to resolutions?

Here are some screenshots for better understanding:
- The window at startup (has a little white rectangle over it) http://s19.postimg.org/8ubluqvfn/loadin ... broken.jpg
- The icon of the mushroom has some strange colors, it's kinda darker http://s19.postimg.org/td6hzt9cz/brokenicon.jpg
- Same with editor windows http://s19.postimg.org/y1r38qnxb/brokeniconagain.jpg
- Here are the splitted backgrounds http://s19.postimg.org/ctderb9gj/brokenbackground_1.jpg
- And another one http://s19.postimg.org/6gy9hh6eb/brokenbacground2.jpg
- Here I check the tiles and backgrounds. I couldn't place some tiles, and backgrounds had a strange placement (I couldn't place two things next to each other) http://s19.postimg.org/r2d19dnz7/brokenthings.jpg
- And here is the game playing. The backgrounds were splitted again, and when I jumped across them, they gave the strange Soltaire effect http://s19.postimg.org/un8wslsir/Soltaireeffect.jpg
Oh, and also one thing I've forgot - animated backgrounds "jump" rather than move. They go a little bit up, then fall down and repeat.

I really don't know what's going on here. If someone could help me, I would be very grateful :D

It looks like something just graphics related. Did you see if your graphics were altered by something? You also may want to redownload SMBX, since it has the original unaltered Graphics for the game.

I've already tried reinstalling it few times. I checked version 1.3, 1.3.1 and 2.0 - every has the same problem.
I don't think there is something wrong with the graphics files, as I checked them and they seem to be good.
Also things in the new editor work, but in the game they don't.

But thanks for a reply :)

hmm try making sure that smbx is the only thing open. It might be cause by ram issues.

Oh gosh, it's that bug. I don't know what causes it or how to fix it, but I remember my brother had that same issue. What's the aspect ratio of your computer? Try right-clicking SMBX, selecting "Properties," and selecting "disable display scaling" under "compatibility." I'm just grasping at straws since I don't know what causes it, so that might not work.

Nothing runs other than system programs, and it still doesn't work.

Nope, that didn't work either. If you want to know, my display aspect ratio is 16:9 (1920x1080).
I also want to point now - it is something wrong with computer (well, duh!), not the game itself. The same files work on other computers well

But still, thank you guys for trying to help me. Now I can see, that people from this forum are nice ;)
