Hey guys, NintendoOtaku93 here. I got an question for you guys. What films & movies were y'all's childhood favorites back when you're growing up?
Here's a list of movies & films I love when I was a young child through teen years:
- Dragon Ball Z Movie 1: Dead Zone (I always love the scene where Son Gohan is on the big clock saying "Woohoo"! ^.^')
- Castle in The Sky (A good anime movie!)
- The Iron Giant (It's my childhood back when I was in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade)
- Pokemon Movie 2000 through the one Pokemon movie with Celebi (You guys should know by now, I like the second Pokemon Gen more than the first Gen! Even though I'm an 90's kid. :0)
^.^')

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, after reading the books, I have to say that those are better than the movie. The movie's still a classic, though.
I didn't watch a lot of interesting movies.

Naruto (the original) is my favorite anime when I was in middle school. And you meant the 4kids dub of "One Piece", right?

It's mostly Disney classics and Disney/Pixar animated films early on.
Heading into my teens, I started watching more live action. Since Terminator 3 was coming out, my parents introduced me and my brother to the first movie (about a month before we saw the third, though our parents were with us as we were both under 14 at the time). My favorite one is the second movie.
I also liked the trilogies of Back To The Future and Lord Of The Rings. I watched Spirited Away during my childhood too.

I don't see how the quality of a childhood can be calculated from a list of movies someone likes.

I can only say that we both had a different childhood, and we did not have that much access to things like anime on TV. I believe this is in contrast to most people our ages. Mostly it has been video and DVD purchases and rentals (from a chain that has since closed down).
We didn't have much to spend on video games either. Mostly it has been Super Mario and Final Fantasy titles for us (though I didn't have a Gamecube and the Wii wasn't out yet). I had also absorbed a bit from NES titles as there was already an NES in the house. We had also gotten a PlayStation 2 from our cousin who won one as part of a video store employee draw but already had one.
So I still had something to do. That's why I'll only say it was different.

I didn't watch many movies when I was younger, but I had a large amount of TV shows I loved to watch (There was this one channel called Noggin that had a ton of shows that were very interesting to me at the time, but now it's like 40% ads which makes me feel bad for the 8-year-olds of this generation). I think I read more then watched Movies and TV.

I've never seen Madagascar or Tom & Jerry.
I've seen the first Home Alone though, but I still cringe at the part where one of the baddies steps on a nail, and I still remember myself shouting "OH, GOD!" just before he did it.
A few other live-action movies I watched on video/DVD were Short Circuit 1 and 2, Batteries Not Included, Gremlins, and Tron.

Pretty much everything from Pixar except Cars & A Bug's Life.
Anything from Disney within the range of the 90s to now, except for Beauty and the Beast. Several older ones I'll throw in the mix, like Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp 1 & 2, 101 Dalmations, Oliver & Company, and a few others I can't think of.
Anything from Dreamworks, except Antz and Shark Tale.
Pokemon Movie, the first one and 2000. I remember watching many movies once, like Iron Giant and Spiderwick. Oh I almost forgot the Harry Potter movies!

I loved what I loved, although during my childhood it wasn't like if there was a lot of new things going on.
I loved Thomas and Friends (TV series) and the Pokémon anime, that was what I watched the most out of all the tv shows there were (other than Dragon ball Z and Naruto, I never knew about any other anime back then).
I remember Noggin had a lot of shows which were always enjoyable for my young age and so were other shows from PBS kids.
There are so many movies I liked as a kid, I don't know where to start.
Interests to most of the other favorite shows were gone starting 2011, especially since Noggin was replaced by Nick Jr. during leap year 2012.
I always loved my times when I remembered being a kid, how good a interesting a lot of films and movies I watched.
