M27: Digital Warfare - Day 13

The popular forum game that separates the good from the bad, the strong from the weak, and the loose-cannon cops from the slightly schizophrenic. That's all after we figure out who's who, of course.

M27: Digital Warfare - Day 13

Postby Ignoritus » Fri Feb 05, 2016 10:34 pm

Mafia 27 - DIGITAL WARFARE

Uh oh! A happy computer network has been threatened by a team of highly trained (probably not), efficient (most likely no), and competent (have you seen mafia on these forums lmao) hackers, out to take down the entire network! Only the highly trained (probably not), efficient (most likely no), and competent (have you seen mafia on these forums lmao) users and network admins can stop this disaster! By randomly kicking people off the network and hoping they kick the right people!

PLEASE CC ME INTO ANY ON-FORUM PMs RELATING TO THE GAME. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN REPLACEMENT. ANY OTHER COMMUNICATION MEDIUMS ARE A-OK.

Role PMs:
Spoiler: show
Erhhhh.. Uh..... well this is embarrassing. You're a Hacker!
But uh....... you seem to have lost your pals. Oops. Well, you'll continue on without them. Starting on NIGHT 2 you can choose to DOS someone each night (or not to).
Just uh, try not to hit your Hacker friends.
You're the Wire Tapper. But you already knew that. :ugeek:
Each night you may use your ability to see any incoming our outgoing private messages of your target for that night. Don't worry about rushing at the start of the phase, your ability will work retroactively for the night.

Take down the Users with your teammates,
-------------,
-------------,
And don't forget- bah! Where's that imbecile gone off to? Well, let's just hope he doesn't get in the way!
You're the "Ethical" Hacker! Note the quotations around "ethical". You're not really ethical at all! Hahaha!
Each night you can shield a player to prevent them from being DOS'd. Watch out for your counterpart, the Ethical Hacker. Note the lack of quotations.

Take down the Users with your teammates,
-------------,
-------------,
And don't forget- bah! Where's that imbecile gone off to? Well, let's just hope he doesn't get in the way!
You're the File Transfer! What's more fun than dumping loads of incriminating evidence on innocent people!
Or vice versa!

...Come to think of it dumping innocent people on incriminating evidence is probably less entertaining than it sounds. Nonetheless!
Each night you may choose to target a player and choose a cardflip color. Should they die the following day or night, they'll cardflip up that color!

Take down the Users with your teammates,
-------------,
-------------,
And don't forget- bah! Where's that imbecile gone off to? Well, let's just hope he doesn't get in the way!
You're the Ethical Hacker! Note the lack of quotations around "ethical". You're unironically ethical! Hahaha! Wait, that wasn't funny.
Each night you can shield a player to prevent them from being DOS'd. Watch out for your counterpart, the "Ethical" Hacker. Note the quotations of irony.

The Hackers see you as having the ability ------------, but as you already have an ability you cannot use it!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.
You're the Forensics Expert! Your nightly investigations can be targeted on players dead OR alive. Investigating living players will reveal their cardflip color, while investigating dead players will reveal the true affiliation of the target.

The Hackers see you as having the ability ------------, but as you already have an ability you cannot use it!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.
You're the Remote Access Technician. Use your powers to stop other people from making bad decisions. Your ability can be used during the day to manually override someone else's vote, forcing them to vote for the target of your choice!

The Hackers see you as having the ability ------------, but as you already have an ability you cannot use it!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.
You're the Backup Access Account! Don't let a single DOS lose your team this game! If you lose someone valuable, take over and recover their ability! Or of course, if you could kick out one of those pesky hackers you might be able to get your hands on their toys...

The Hackers see you as having the ability ------------, but as you already have an ability you cannot use it!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.
Ugh... You're a Script Kiddie. Your little games have made you highly suspect. Try not to get DOS'd, or you'll end up confusing your team even more!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.
You're the ISP. You can't be kicked or DOS'd very easily. In fact, it will take everyone allying against you to take you down. Try to stay out of the line of fire, and remember that convincing even one person not to vote for you protects you for another turn. But do not forget: You are everyone's enemy.

Survive until another party would win in order to steal victory.
You're a User. You have the ability:
-------------
You may use it ONCE during the game.

But beware, the Hackers know you have this ability!

Take down the Hackers with your teammates.

Okay, after being kicked form Nein's game because I had school, it is great to get to do this again! I would suggest a special (blue turned red) to reveal them self that the Forensics expert can scan, but doing that would sacrifice a user. Since we only have three specials, that will not work here! I guess whoever turns up red through the forensics expert should make the team. I wish every one of us a good fair game! May the best team win. Can someone explain the "Remote Access Technician though?

Hidey ho, everybody! I'm a user with Network Access.

By the way, Mechdragon, the Remote Access Technician can change the lynch vote of another player to a player of the Technician's choice. For example, if I were the Technician (I'm not), I could target you and force you to vote for, say, Nien.

On the topic of the Technician, as I'm now thinking about it, their ability seems a bit worthless in it's own right and should be used to better effect then what it's listed as.

In the early game, Technician isn't that helpful. Perhaps if we facilitate the users around (as the Technician could call a shot and I believe prove themselves as it would be immediately announced as per role card) and get a team that way?

That suggest they be kept underground and safe for the end game. They seem to be better end game.

Hey Ignoritus, does the Wire Tapper learn who the PMs were sent to or just their contents?

If the latter, I suggest that town alliances come up with codenames for their members in order to avoid detection.

If Script Kiddie == Miller, then it should be specified, but typically, no...

Rule Clarifications
Nato wrote: In the early game, Technician isn't that helpful. Perhaps if we facilitate the users around (as the Technician could call a shot and I believe prove themselves as it would be immediately announced as per role card) and get a team that way?
The usage of the Technician's ability is announced, not the user of. As in, it is not a silent alteration to vote count akin to the standard Doublevoter.
Pseudo-dino wrote:Hey Ignoritus, does the Wire Tapper learn who the PMs were sent to or just their contents?
The Wire Tapper knows only the person they targetted. All other members of the communication are not revealed unless explicitly stated in the text of the message.

As for the questions regarding the Script Kiddie, you can find your answer in the Role PMs.
