SMB Special (needs testers soon!)

Postby bandicoot_ » Sun Jan 24, 2016 9:22 pm

Wait, Super Mario Bros. Special? What is this?

Super Mario Bros. Special was a Nintendo-licensed game released in 1986 by Hudson Soft, for two Japanese PCs, the NEC-PC8801 and the Sharp X1 series. There is also a ROM hack for the original Super Mario Bros. game on the NES. Here I am making an entire episode with a world map and everything.

World 1 - 70% (Levels 1-3, needs secret pipe areas, and added start "level" to intensify story)
World 2-8 - 0%

Once I finish World 1, I will allow people to download this.

And, screenshots:

If this is a solely SMB1 episode, then it needs a flagpole instead of goal post, some other form of checkpoint (perhaps and invisible one?), SMB1 power-ups, and SMB1 characters.

Luckily for you I have been making 16-bit custom graphics of many SMB Special enemies and items. If you're interested in using custom graphics I can post them.

Also.
If I were you I would add some expanded tilesets instead of just using the vanilla smb1 grass tileset with 3 blocks.

There are various CGFX that you can use. Sednaiur has extended tilesets for the PGE if you are interested.
