M27 Host Signups (Poll available)

Postby Julia Pseudo » Tue Jan 26, 2016 11:44 am

We're finally back!

Mafia 27

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to Nien, but he will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Spinda and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 15-20 players.
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

Long ago, the people of the nation lived in harmony. Everything changed when the corrupt politicians attacked.

Mafia 27: We are the 70.58%
Cardflip - 17 players

Corrupt Politicians
Dictator: Always protected by guards; can go into super paranoid mode twice throughout the whole game to kill anyone who visits him that night. (details below)
Military Man: Can beat someone up each night to make them cardflip black until the next night.
Propagandist: Can set one message to be displayed to the whole game in the phase transition message each night. (details below)
Doublespeaker: Can fake a lynch vote by sending the host a PM with their real lynch vote. Votes in the thread will not be counted.
The group conspires to kill one player each night and all members have contact with each other. They win if they eliminate the terrorist militant guy and equal or outnumber the Rebel Alliance.

The Brave Rebel Alliance
Goodguy Politician: The only honest politician left in the nation, s/he still has old connections that s/he can use to inspect one player each night and learn their cardflip color.
Commando: Can kill one player each night. Loses ability for one night if s/he kills a townsperson.
Conspiracy Theorist: Can set one message to be displayed to the whole game in the phase transition message each night. (details below)
Rebel Medic: Can protect one player each night to protect them from being night killed. Cannot self protect. (details below)
Hippie: Can deliver an inspirational speech to someone once per night to allow that player to use their ability twice that night. Cannot target self, because that would be stupid. (details below)
Concerned citizen: Just going about their life, doesn't really care about politics. Would generally like the rebels to win.
Concerned citizen
Concerned citizen
Concerned citizen
Concerned citizen
Concerned citizen
Morally bankrupt individual: Still on the side of the rebels. S/he cardflips red, though. Thinks s/he's a concerned citizen.
They win by eliminating the corrupt politicians and the terrorist militant guy.

Terrorist militant guy: Literally doesn't care about anybody except for his small band of militants. Can kill one player each night. He will call one of his medics to save himself if he is night killed, rendering him immune to night kills (details below). Wins by being the last player standing.

Role Details
Spoiler: show
Dictator: Retaliation against visitors is considered a night kill - if the Rebel Medic protects the Commando who visits the paranoid Dictator, the Commando will not die. Abilities still work against a paranoid Dictator.
Conspiracy Theorist/Propagandist: Plain text only; it will be marked as a player message as well, so it cannot be used to fake kills or saves. Max 250 characters. Messages from both roles are indistinguishable from each other and are displayed in a random order.
Rebel Medic/Terrorist militant guy: A message will be displayed in the phase transition message if the Rebel Medic successfully protects someone, or if the terrorist militant guy successfully protects himself. These messages are indistinguishable.
Hippie: The Hippie's ability activates as soon as s/he sends an ability PM, in order to facilitate the second ability usage. The target will receive a PM about this if it's successful.
- Power usage and lynches are optional, but all players should display signs of activity.
- Insta-lynches can happen.
Spinda wrote:So wait is the Dictator also BP at all nights?
I really like the two Criers. That'd be a really interesting mechanic.

Pseudo, what are the win conditions of the Terrorist militant guy? Just be the last man standing? With his ability, does that mean he can only be lynched?

Here's my Idea for one:

M27 – Marioverse Power-up Chaos
On this mafia, trouble has happened in the mushroom kingdom and a mafia with evil marioverse power-ups is trying to kill the innocent toads. The town has to use power-ups to fight back against the mafia, but oh yeah, no one knows who has which power-up, so you could end up killing someone with one of the good power-ups
22 Players – Cardflip
Insta-lynches can happen
This is a Towns Syndrome game. No one knows who has which color.

Roles:

Evil Power-ups:
Win Condtion: Outnumber the players with good power-ups

Ztar: The one with this is the leader of the mafia, cardsflip green
Cursed Mushroom: Can block a player's ability each night.
Stopwatch: Can silence a player each night
Poison Mushroom
Poison Mushroom

Good Power-ups:
Win Condtion: Kill all the players with Bad Power-ups and Third Party Power-up
P-switch: Can scan the color of a player each night
? Switch: The player with this switch will take the role of the player with the p-switch if the player with
The P-switch dies.

Fire Flower: Lynch votes count as two instead of one, if a player gets insta-lynch because of the double vote,
They upgrade into:

Ice Flower: Lynch votes count as three instead of two
Hammer Suit: Can kill one player each night but will lose this ability if they kill someone with a mushroom.
1-up: The player with this will survive if they get killed in the night, but only once!
Starman: The Player with this can protect one player each night, cannot self-protect.
Crystal Orb: The Player with this knows who has the ? Orb but the person with the ? Orb doesn't know who they are. Cardflips green.
Mushroom

Mystery Mushroom: The Player with this mushroom thinks it's a normal mushroom, Cardflips red.

Thrid Party Power-up:
Win Condtion: Be the last person standing

? Orb: Can Predict who will die that night, if their prediction is correct, they are free to take the power-up and role of that player.

Mafia 27: Generic Thing With Interesting Thing
18 Players, Cardflip

Roleblocker: Blocks someones role during the night.
Mafiaman: Choose who to kill during the night face
Mafiaman

The Town Dudes & Dudettes

Sheriff: Can inspect someone's color each night.
Doctor: Can save a person each night.
Mind Controller: Can see the private messages someone sent/recieved every night.*
Town Dude/Dudette: Chooses to lynch one person each day.
Town Dude/Dudette
Town Dude/Dudette

Town Dude/Dudette
Town Dude/Dudette
Miller: Thinks he's a normal townsperson but actually is red.

The Third Party Dude/Dudette
Serial Simpleton: Can kill a person each night, immune to night kills.

*All private messages must be sent to the host too aswell.
Pseudo-dino wrote:What is the point of the Denialman and Bounty Hunter being purple instead of blue?
Does the Identity Thief have a win condition? Tbh it doesn't seem like a very fun role (to be cast as).
These are just suggestions though, you can keep it as is if you'd like (as far as I'm concerned).
Spinda wrote:While the Identity Thief is a cool idea in theory, it has a few problems. For example, if a member of the Mafia becomes the Identity Thief and they then swap roles with a town member, the town essentially got the names of every Mafia member. I'd prefer the role to be changed because currently I just don't see it working out.
Approved.

RAGONT PRESENTS....
PRODUCED BY HIDEO KOJIMA...
MAFIA 27.
MORONS OF THE ROUND TABLE: ANCIENT KUNG-FU ACTION TACTICS
(INSANE MAFIA GONE WRONG GONE SEXUAL)

LORE: IN MEDIEVAL TIMES, THERE WERE TWO BADASS KINGDOMS THAT CAME TO EACH OTHER IN TIMES OF BOREDOM. BUT ONE DAY, SOME GUYS CAME IN FROM THE FUTURE BENT ON CREATING CHAOS AND AWESOME DESTRUCTION. THESE BAD DUDES EACH SIDE WITH BOTH KINGDOMS TO TRY AND CREATE AS MUCH HAVOC AS THEY CAN. THIS IS...
MORONS OF THE ROUND TABLE: ANCIENT KUNG-FU ACTION TACTICS

GAME: Alright so when the court phase begins, each team is given a person's role to guess, and that person will be executed once you have all agreed (You will know who the royalties are on which team, but not their roles. You will not be told who regular BOZOs and MORONs are, as they will remain anonymous to each other and their teams.)
if this is getting too fucking convoluted then basically
you'll know whos special, but no one will know their roles, and no one will know who's a bozo and who's a moron
/WOUND\s count for one of a player's HITPOINTS. (Each player has three HITPOINTS) Only regular BOZOs and MORONs may /WOUND\ other players during the Supper phase. Royal entities may not.

-HOST-
HOST will ask for which role to be guessed out and ELIMINATED WOOOOOOOOO

~COURT PHASE
day phase
~SUPPER PHASE
night phase

BOZOS -
MOST REGAL DUKE OF RETARDS, EUSTACE HOWIE - The Nerd King-Mage himself. May HONORABLY EXECUTE one person during the supper phase.
EVIL Scizor300 - An evil scientist from the future created a time machine in order to execute his archnemesis's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate from years ago. "My friends, we've gone the PLAID." Protects a person with a PLASMA SHIELD that will damage anyone who tries to wound the target during a supper phase.
Papa John - An intergalactic nuclear pizza delivery man who has a guarantee of under thirty minutes (or it's free)! "Papa's in the multiuniversal space station"! Delivers delicious pizza to an unsuspecting MORON, seeing their actions during that supper phase.
HIS SON, PRINCE EUGENE REGINALD HOWIE THE FIFTH WHO IS ALSO A MEDICAL PRACTICIONER - The dipshit prince of Narmia. Can tend to a person's wounds during the court phase. (Silenced)
BOZO - Just another old bozo. Can wound someone during Night

MORONS(townies) -

LORD DIPCHIT, HERO OF THE MORONS - May HONORABLY SLAY one person during the supper phase.
THE HERO OF THYME - Can rewind time, bringing one person back from the dead. (Only works every two supper phases, on even suppers 2,4,6 etc)
KABAM BOY - A suicidal tactician from a more modern time, this man has the chance to blow TWO PEOPLE up during the supper phase.
MORON - Just another moron, you guys.

LAME-O's-
IGNORITUS, THE COURT JESTER - what he says does not fucking count for shit, okay, he's just a fucking joke (silenced until role swapped; can be role swapped)
FYRUS, THE LEGENDARY BARD - Plays beautiful music for the crowd, confusing everyone. As long as he is alive, everyone's (except his team's with the exception of IGNORITUS) roles will be rotated to the next person on the list.
NEO-RADICAL JUDAIST (UPGRADE ONLY) - Stretches his dollar all the way to the finish line. Has the power to buy someone out of their role. (They will become either normal BOZO or MORON. Once all the special powers of one team are gone, ascends to the heavens and ends the other team's kingdom, winning the game.)
Mormon - Must advertise a conversion to Neo-Radical Judaism to a player. (Determined by RNG, 1-10) Numbers greater than 8 are a definite yes. If the asked player is wounded, the DEFINITE YES trigger is set to all even numbers of the roll (this includes the previous condition 8, 9 and 10) ONLY ONE NEO RADICAL JEW MAY EXIST AT A TIME, so if another says yes, they will be in queue in case the first Neo Radical Jew is killed.

Did you like it?

It would suck to be stuck in this role and no one would want to play it.

This would also just be a plain bloodbath and it would probably be over faster than it starts with four people being able to be killed each night with no punishment for killing innocents.

Since all the townies are special, the amount of mafia is necessary for a balanced game.

M27 A Special Game

Townies (13/20)

BodyGuard - May protect one player from death or abilities cast on him/her each night. Causes bodyguard's own death and attacker's death
Doctor - May heal a player each night, preventing them from death. One self heal
Sheriff - May inspect a player each night to learn of their color.
Lookout - May watch a player to see who the target player visits OR who visits the targeted player that night (if anyone) If the player is killed, only one of the members of the mafia/traitors will be revealed.
Vigilante - May kill a player each night; if killing a townie, he loses his ability for one day. If he kills the town traitor, he gains the ability to kill daily.
Escort - May distract one player each night and prevent his/her ability from activating.
Gunsmith - May give a user a gun each night; Guns have a 75% chance of revealing who used them; has to use his ability daily; no stock pile; only used during daytime
Gunsmith - May give a user a gun each night; Guns have a 75% chance of revealing who used them; has to use his ability daily; no stock pile; only used during daytime
Lieutenant - Can choose during the night to host a second lynching during the day where a second player gets lynched alongside the first.
Retributionist - Can Revive the dead twice per game; if he dies with revives left, he comes back to life
Veteran - May choose to go alert each night and kill any players who visit him. limited to 3 alerts
Dancer - able to allow a person to use their roles twice; Cannot pick the same target twice in a row
Priest - Blocks the targeted player from all non-town abilities that night; does not block deaths/town traitor/bomber abilities

All of these roles cannot target themselves

Mafia (4/20)
Yakuza - Upon death by circumstances, gets to choose a player to convert to mafia. The converted player can use his first ability 1 more time. Conversions will be announced to town. (IE A town member has been converted to mafia) If he picks a non-town member, conversions won't work.
Lawyer - Can paint one of his mafia members blue each night; painting wears off during daytime.
Consort - Can roleblock someone each day
Mafioso - discusses mafia chat

Neutral (1/20)

Bomber - May place a bomb on a target each night. At daytime, the bomb wears off. If his choice is killed during the night a bomb ignites and starts a countdown. After 3 days, everyone except the bomber dies. Has 1 bulletproof vest that he can use at any time

Traitors (2/20); Goal kill everyone (They do not know any mafia/townies. Likewise, the townies/mafia won't know who they are)
Town Traitor - Can choose someone to kill along with the mafia traitor; Granted a random townie ability every night. The ability will only come from ALIVE roles.
Mafia Traitor - Can choose someone to kill along with the town traitor; Every 2 days allowed to investigate a player to find out their EXACT Role
Pseudo-dino wrote:Town is super overpowered. No offense intended, but there's a reason why there are usually only 3-5 blues.
Similarly, Mafia is very underpowered. The generic Mafioso at least needs to be given a power, and they should probably compose a larger percentage of the game as well.
The bomber is actually OK, it seems really interesting and is pretty balanced.
However, the traitors are underpowered, though I'd say slightly less underpowered than the Mafia. Since they're semi-independent, I'd grant them increased powers instead of more members. It's really up to you, though.
Spinda wrote:I'm all for everyone having powers but this is just extreme. Town is really op and you should probably remove a Townie or two and make them a Mafia member.

Mafia 27 - DIGITAL WARFARE

Uh oh! A happy computer network has been threatened by a team of highly trained (probably not), efficient (most likely no), and competent (have you seen mafia on these forums lmao) hackers, out to take down the entire network! Only the highly trained (probably not), efficient (most likely no), and competent (have you seen mafia on these forums lmao) users and network admins can stop this disaster! By randomly kicking people off the network and hoping they kick the right people!

TERMINOLOGY-
Mafia- Hackers
Town- Users
Blues- Admins
Mafia Night Kill - DOS
Lynch Kill - Kick

Win Conditions:
HACKERS: Hold equal or greater numbers than the rest of the players.
USERS: Kick all hackers.
THIRD PARTY: Survive until the end of the game in order to steal victory from the HACKERS and USERS!

Unique Rules:
-Users are randomly granted one of three abilities. These abilities can be used only once throughout the game. Roles with other abilities can not use these abilities.

Digital Martyr - Can predict their death during a night. If they die, their prediction is announced all non-hacker votes the following day count as double.
Library Access - Can post a message after their death.
Internet Anonymity - Can post a message anonymously via the host.

The hackers are informed of each user's ability at the start of the game.

HACKERS-

Clueless Hacker
Can DOS anyone during night phase, separate from normal Hacker DOS.....
however, is uninformed of their teammates at the start of the game. Cannot DOS on Night 1.

Wire Tapper
Can target a player during the night phase to hear all of their ingoing and outgoing private messages.

"Ethical" Hacker
Cardflips Yellow. Can shield a player each night to protect them from being DOS'd. (Does not prevent Kick)

File Transfer
Can target a player in order to alter what color they cardflip if they die the next day or night. Does not take effect the night of its usage.

Users-
Ethical Hacker
Cardflips Yellow. Can shield a player each night to protect them from being DOS'd. (Does not prevent Kick)

Forensics Expert
Can investigate a player at night to learn their color. Can target a dead player in order to learn their true affiliation.

Remote Access Technician
Can force another player to Vote Kick a specific user. This ability is usable at any point during the day and will override the player's original vote. This ability's usage is publiclly visible.

Backup Access Account
Can target their ability on any dead player to gain that player's ability. (This includes Hackers).

Script Kiddie
Cardflips Blue.

User
User
User
User
User
User
User
User
User
User

THIRD PARTY-
ISP
Wins automatically if they're alive at the end of the game. Can only be killed by a unanimous Vote Kick.

Strategy:
HACKERS:
The clueless hacker wants to unite with the other hackers as quickly as possible so as to be able to safely use their powers without risking killing teammates. Otherwise, they need to be very cautious about killing so as to not accidentally kill one of their fellow hackers.
The Wire Tapper wants to use their ability to try and identify who's sharing information and what they know, as well as identifying the user's special roles.
The "Ethical" Hacker's goal is to essentially take the place of the actual Ethical Hacker by taking advantage of their indistinguishable traits and abilities.
The File Transfer aims to confuse the Users as well as assuring that the Forensics Expert is too occupied confirming cardflips to actually inspect anyone.

USERS:
The true Ethical Hacker wants to protect the User's important roles from being DOS'd. He can protect confirmed Admins from being immediately DOS'd by the hackers.
The Forensic's Expert aims to confirm card-flips in order to reduce uncertainty, as well as attempt to inspect and identify Hackers.
The Remote Access Technician should attempt to gain contact with the Forensic's Expert in order to obtain reliable information on who to vote kick so that they can redirect harmful votes onto good targets.
The Backup Access Account provides some insurance to the User's important roles. However, if their role was not known before they did he could easily end up with a role he did not expect. His ability to steal Hacker abilities also makes him a large liability to the Hackers should he get ahold of the Wire Tapper's ability.
The presence of User abilities gives a bit of extra strength to the standard Users. However, these abilities only have one use and most are very specific, meaning strong timing is necessary to make good usage of them. In other words, they don't make Users much stronger in the long run, but permit them to make "big plays" if they're smart.

THIRD PARTY:
The requirement of a unanimous vote to kill the ISP puts the other two parties into an interesting position. The town can only discover the ISP through inspection or through a failed kick attempt. The former would force the Forensics Expert to reveal himself. The Hackers may discover them through a failed DOS attempt or a wire tapping, but then also would need to justify how they know this information. Both sides need to take out the ISP, but must find a way to do so without revealing how they knew that information. The ISP must capitalize on this, while being wary of the Internet Anonymity and Library Access abilities that could permit their role to be revealed safely.

I don't understand why the cardflip colors are nonstandard though (red for hackers, blue for special, green for townies/ethical hackers and yellow for third party).

Ignoritus can you use the standard colors for your game?
It's hard to adjust when red becomes blue, blue becomes red, green becomes yellow and yellow becomes green
