You might have guessed it after reading the thread's title, but to reaffirm yes, this project is for now on hiatus.

Now, I know many of you were eager to play the second demo of this project, and might have even expected great things out of it after a long time of seeing no trace of this project whatsoever. Now, as a matter of fact I haven't done much for it, and honestly don't feel like continuing. That is, for now at least. The thing is that I don't feel like scrapping it either because I have so many great ideas for it that I think you all might enjoy, therefore I decided to put it on hiatus for now. To all that wanted to play the second demo, I'm sorry, but I promise that I'll get to this later.

Since I'm posting an update of my project, being that I put it on hiatus, I might take my time to also give you guys an extra info. I will be taking my time to rework on one of my projects that I long ago believed to have lost since for some reason all of my project files weren't on my PC anymore. The thing is that I found all of the stuff that I have made for my long ago cancelled Whispers of Night project. After playing what I have done so far, which isn't that much to my disappointment, I felt like remaking the whole project and turn it into a rather short episode for you guys. The plot nonetheless will suffer no change at all.

With that said I would like the staff to NOT lock this thread yet. My hiatus may not last long, but despite of that I want to hear some opinions about my last decision here. Even though I won't change it. =P

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (POLL!)

Postby Fuyu » Fri Dec 25, 2015 10:18 am

Thanks Zeldamaster12.

Now, welcome back to my project thread. It's been a while now hasn't it? About a full year maybe? Anyway, I'd like to start with a simple poll. Last year I've ran a poll asking you people if you wanted me to finish W2 for the next Demo or both W2 & W3 for the next Demo, and to my surprise many many people wanted the latter. But since this project has been on hiatus for a full year I'll be running another poll asking the same question. I have W2 done already but I want to know what you do you guys want.

So go ahead, show your opinion on the matter. Keep in mind there are screenshots of each level that has been made, so if you're so eager to play them just vote Yes, if you think quantity is better than wait-time then vote No.

New logo for the project. I thought it was time to change it for something more appealing. Now's time to wait for the poll to conclude since I can't update the main post yet or the votes would go away.

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (END OF POLL)

Postby Fuyu » Fri Jan 01, 2016 11:55 am

Well then, after starting the poll to find out whether you guys wanted me to release the Demo for W2 first or wait until the completion for W3, fourteen out of fifteen chose the latter, which honestly surprises me. Nonetheless as far as I can tell progress on W3 is going pretty smoothly and I might finish it about end of January if I hurry up enough, but I wouldn't hope for that honestly.

As a side note, tomorrow at 3:30am Eastern Time I'll be going on a trip to La Paloma and I ain't coming back until January 8th which means I won't be able to work on anything. But I'll make sure to update this thread with brief screenshots showing off W3's progress because yes, I do have a considerable amount of progress. With that said thanks for voting and I'll see 'ya all.

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (W3 Screenshots! 8th Jan, 2016)

Postby Fuyu » Fri Jan 08, 2016 1:43 pm

New screenshots from W3 as I stated before going to La Paloma. I apologize for not uploading them when I should, but I was told I was going to have internet and a laptop to at least post the screenshots, thing in fact I did not have. So to compensate for that I'll be posting all the screenshots I should have uploaded within these past days right now. From the top one to the bottom one are 3-1 Piedmont Clamber, 3-2 Strenuous Landslide, 3-3 Spiked Ascendance (big-ass screenshot) and 3-4 Thunderstorm Highlands (which isn't finished yet, but I'm close).

Was asked to support this topic..so I gave it a quick look. Two things I'd note: The lightning shot from that clou doesnt exactly fit. Its too detailed compared to the simplistic cloud. And I noticed your level lack randomly floating coins. How can Mario be a millionaire if you aren't going to throw money at him :>

Side this, looks solid.

Thanks a bunch, I suppose the reason this project doesn't get that much attention is because I only released a demo of W1 and I removed it because the download didn't work properly. Y'know what? Fuck it, I'll upload the Demo right now with everything listed on this thread fixed.

The lightning took too much work imo, but anyway I'll see if I can re-shade it so it fits better. And the coins, well I never knew where to place them exactly since nowhere really convinced me besides the patterns that repeat again and again throughout all of my levels, but I'll see if I can do something about it.

Thanks again for stopping by.

MY rule of thumb, always have at least 100 coins. Doesnt matter where the hell they are, but with two or three levels you should always get a 1-Up with coins alone.

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (Good bye Stardust levels)

Postby Fuyu » Sat Jan 09, 2016 5:13 pm

Oh, in that case that won't be a problem because there are 100+ on each level already. =P

Also change of plans. I won't be releasing the demo yet because I'm removing the Stardust levels completely. I truly don't think many people would endure its difficulty, I mean besides SMBX hardcore fans. Instead I'll be putting the Dragon Coins, or from now on called Star Coins, a good use. Every time you people collect 5 Star Coins a Star will appear at the end of the level. To compensate for the lack of Stardast levels there will be special levels each with a different enemy/special gimmick that differs from the rest of the entire game. These levels are not required to beat the game, but will also contain a star. Collect all stars and you unlock the Star Haven, easy as that.

Thanks, Chad's levels did inspire me on almost all of my levels and for a reason, his levels are awesome. I'll make sure to re-release W1's Demo as soon as possible.

Hello Natsu, I guess we didn't meet before. My name is Suckerman7 GM and I'm here in this forums like for 6 or 7 months. And I heard about your Project. Firstly, I thought it could be exciting because I saw the info about your Project about I was very interested in it. But when I saw it's on hiatus, I felt very devastated. Anyways, since your Project is back, I want to ask something. Are you looking for extra people WHO can help you? I mean, since you are going on a trip, I just wanted to learn to see if you need anyone WHO can beta-test your Project. And I'm actually good at this job. Yeah simply, I wanted to say if you can approve it, I'd be so glad about it.

Anyways, have a nice day on your trip!

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (Goodbye Stardust levels)

Hello Suckerman7 GM.

Yeah, the reason it's been in Hiatus was mainly because I was getting tired of developing this particular project and wanted to jump to other things, one of them related to a brand new project that got cancelled due to loosing all of my progress thus far. But now that I'm back I'm going to give it my best to complete it.

Sadly, no I'm not looking for Beta-Testers, I'm more fond of posting Demos and leaving the judgement to the community rather than sending levels to Beta-Testers. I didn't have the best luck with them. Not all of them were bad mind you, in fact cramps-man was probably the best I've ever had. Yet I don't sea real meaning on sending levels for testing when I can just count on the community, having a larger amount of people leaving multiple opinions, and even some that may even review it.

The project is currently going smoothly, which greatly pleases me. I might even have W1 Demo out today. I might even considering posting some of W2's levels on the forum to attract some more people, because right now it ain't getting that much attention unlike before it went on Hiatus.

Thanks for your offer Suckerman7 GM, but again I have no need for Beta-Testers. Thumbs up and await the Demo.

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (W1's Demo V1.1 is out!)

Postby Fuyu » Tue Jan 12, 2016 9:09 pm

Ladies and gentlemen, W1's demo is finally out for everybody to play. Sorry it took so long, I seem to have a problem when playing the game which doesn't allow me to enter any levels. I really can't think of any other reason for the game itself to not let me access the level since everything seems to have been set just fine. Plus I had a problem recently on which enemies on a level wouldn't hurt me at all even though they were not friendly.

Anyway, that aside here's the last screenshot of W1 which shows the big-ass section of the special level. Sorry but I ain't feeling like resizing or posting it in link form, so for those who'd like to give it a look will have to right click it and open on a new tab, it's not that tiring to begin with so get on it you can go ahead and do so, or just download the demo and play it yourself.

DOWNLOAD DEMO V1.1 OF WORLD 1 NOW!

Also a quick Q&A:

Are you going to take level designers?
Short answer, no, don't need any.

Are you going to take GFX designers, perhaps?
Yes, exclusively for boss spriting. This episode is planned to be chock full of custom bosses, and for that I need an expert spriter willing to take the job. I'll go ahead and say this now, I don't need GFX designers who just resign because of my tough requests, because yeah, I once requested a boss sprite to Mudkip back in 2014 (I think) and he dropped, so yeah go figure. In other words, if you're not sure of being up to the task, don't offer your assistance, I need hard workers, not quitters.

How long will it take for you to release the Demo for W2 & W3?
Honestly I don't know, I didn't expect to scrap the whole Stardust levels thing, being said levels rather short and taking little to no time to make. If you people are that eager to play more I might just release the demo for W2 anyway regardless of the result of the poll.

If you have more questions feel free to ask them away. Thumbs up!

Re: SMI - Dereso in Crisis! (W1's Demo V1.2 FIXED!)

Postby Fuyu » Thu Jan 14, 2016 8:41 am

It appears there were some technical problems with the episode, mostly related to missing graphics, LunaLua bugs, game-breaking problems, etc. So I took my time to fix all the bugs and remove LunaLua from SMI for the time being. The only thing I was doing with it was the SMB3 Roulette Card API anyway, so I'll save it for anytime we get SMBX 2.0 or PGE's fully functional engine. The download is up in the main post. Have fun.

Episode didn't work for me because the castle level was missing, I just got rid of it on the overworld and played the levels.
I have to say that I really enjoyed them. You have a good style and eye for detail as well.
I'll be looking forward to next instalments of your episode.

Also for people wondering, this is the song used in the fortress.

That's strange, it should be there. Welp I'll upload the level individually and update the main download for everybody.

Download 1-C (Place it in your project folder to play)
