Hello, and welcome to my new project! It is a sequel to my episode I uploaded a while ago, Andario: Beginning. This one will continue off of the storyline of the previous one, where

Andario (and his friend Noigi) go on an adventure to rescue Peach and possibly Mario and Luigi. In the previous one, they stormed Bowser's Vacation Home only to find that the only notable being there was Bowser Jr.
This episode will feature 4 worlds (each with 7 normal levels, 2 alternate levels, 1 tower, 1 castle, and a :P level) and 4 playable characters. Here is a list of levels (Subject to change):

Playables:
Andario - The hero from the prequel returns! He replaces Mario.
Noigi - Andario's very distant relative also returns, with jumping skills rivaled only by Luigi!
Doshi - The dry yoshi has been released from his prison, and is able to float in midair using his sheer willpower!
Clowser - A Bowser from an alternate universe. He likes doughnuts and is pretty fast.

Powerups:
Most of these are new, and will be added via LunaDLL LunaLua.
Golden 'Shroom - This little puppy will give you incredible speed and a double jump! Now I need to find the address for max running speed... Usable by all characters.
Bill Cannon - Allows you to launch bullet bills. Usable by all characters except clowser.
Gold Flower - Allows you to turn enemies into coins. Usable by all characters.

I don't know why I didn't commented on this topic yet, but man, this project looks really promising. Also the originality in this one is strong, like hey, you even made a Minecraft styled stage!
I'm looking forward for more from this project.

IIRC he made them by himself and they might be in his gfx pack.

Most of them are. The background should be in Murphmario's graphics pack and I dunno where I got the creeper - check the community graphics pack maybe?

So I was thinking about adding a few new mechanics, like more unique abilities for each character (I was thinking some things like Andario having some sort of random gun-like thing, Noigi using some sort of magic to move things around, Doshi being sorta like a dry bones so he can break up into a pile and fit through small areas, Clowser going into his shell and smashing blocks, and all characters having some physical attacks no matter what their powerup is) (And yes, I'm 99% sure I can pull this off with some lua) and I though I may want to add an energy bar so they can't just spam these abilities. But then I thought, "Hey, instead of just adding a new energy bar, why not redesign the HUD?"

This likely isn't the final design, and I haven't started programming it yet, but I'm thinking it will involve these main elements:
  • An inventory for storing powerups and other objects you find
    Hearts, for all players (though different ones will have different amounts)
    An energy bar that recharges when you're not using a special ability
    star/life/coin counters
    Maybe some sort of guide for the character? (only the first time you get something or when you type "helpme" or somethin idk)
So is this a good idea or should I scrap it?

Really nice, although I'd gotta say that item box instantly reminds me of Terraria. As for the HUD design and the elements you want to implement I'd say I would love to play this episode, like 100% sure. Go ahead, if you can pull that off I'll tip my cap to you.

The idea is nice, but I think you have to heavily rework the layout. Having it on the left looks really weird. Something spanning over the top/bottom or sitting in the corners of the screen feels much nicer imo.
