It probably has to do with the fact of the lava, and the place getting hotter.

This would look better if you stick to SMW and remove the SMB3 lights in the second screen.
The door should also be changed since SMW dosen't go well with either SMB2 or SMB3.

People really need to stop carrying so much about smw and smb3 not going well together(including smb2 and etc also)

Meh...
I just like SMW having only SMW stuff, it seems better that way because of its style.

I definitely agree that the underground section is really eyesore and NPCs and coins are very sparse throughout the level. This isn't a review, but if I did write a full review I'd probably give it something between 3.5/10 and 5/10.

I must admit that that recolor was shit and I shouldn't have ever posted it.
The recolor being mine doesn't mean that what I said is invalid. You can still change it.

Eeek
EYEBLEED

Jks aside
I agree with @rudeguy on this one, the colours are way to Bright,i you would just de-saturated.
And the fact you can't find any lava cave bg's is just a bunch of bullshit, download the community gfx pack an you allready have a million.

Can't you just recolor them by yourself? At least make the current one (as well the tileset) darker.

Official Review of Bursting Lava Field

This level is not only painful to look at, but also painful to play. It is very repetitive, bland, and many parts are quite unfair. In the first section, it switches back and forth between clustered enemies and BGOs and areas of rising and falling lava that fails to present a bursting effect. It just moves up at a constant speed, stops, and then goes back down. Coin and power-up placement needs a lot of work. The level is tough and absent of coins. In the second section the lava moves way too fast without warning (it would have been nice to have a warning outside) at a very unfair speed. Another unfair part was the one where the player has to jump of a springboard or note block through a very narrow gap in the lava; it's just plain brutal. The graphics were eyesore throughout and the music didn't really fit well, it wasn't too bad though.

2/10 (The Trash Can)
