How long does it take for you to load SMBX?

Postby moemoe02 » Sun Apr 06, 2014 8:47 pm

Last night, I upgraded SMBX 1.3 to 1.3.0.1 and played the demo of "Finnish Collaboration Episode" and like, entering a level or starting up SMBX take like 2 minutes instead of just like loading it automatically and sometimes when I click the mouse on my computer, it says that the program does not respond! How long is it taking for you to have SMBX booted up?

I use SMBX 1.3. Well, on my new PC Windows 7, it takes like 15 Seconds to load and then I am on the title screen from SMBX. (Near) Samething with the editor.

On my Windows XP Notebook it takes like over a Minutes to load and everything takes (a bit) longer to load instead of my newer Win 7 PC.

I use 1.3.0.1 and it takes about 30 seconds on my Windows 8.1.

It depends. In some cases it can take as little as 30 seconds but as my computer performance is decreasing it's now taking more than a minute. Which I'm fed up with because I fear I cannot run SMBX on a Windows 8 computer.

One thing for sure is if you have a lot of custom graphics on a Level and/or World Map, everything is taking longer especially with Player Graphics (each regular player graphic is 1000x1000 Pixels big).

It took 10 seconds for me to load SMBX. Sometimes it can be longer than I expect.

If I am guessing right, the 10 Second delay was only there if there is no Windows on and it was done more than one time to Start up. The rest can be a bit more delayed because of other programs running or something that is taking a bit more Performance than before.

well for me SMBX 1.3 actually takes longer for it to start up (probably because it's loading Nintendo's webpage) and SMBX 1.3 will usually show up a couple seconds after I click on it. For levels and stuff it's ranges from instantly to a few minute, of course, depending on how much custom gfx are being used. All this on my XP.

It takes me about 30 seconds to load on my Windows Vista, but about 4 to load up on my Windows 7. I use Version 1.3.

Did several tests, here are the results:

Desktop computer, SMBX 1.3.0.1, Windows 7 x64:
  • 14, 12.5, 11.5, 11.5, 11.5 seconds to load up the game, average 12.2 seconds.
  • 3.5 seconds to load 1-1 from Phil's SMB3 Remake.
Desktop computer, SMBX 1.3, Windows 7 x64:
  • 13, 11.5, 12, 12, 12 seconds to load up the game, average 12.1 seconds.
  • 3.5 seconds to load 1-1 from Phil's SMB3 Remake.
Laptop, SMBX 1.3, Windows 7 x32:
  • 25, 20, 18, 19.5, 20 seconds to load up the game, average 20.5 seconds.
So no real difference between SMBX 1.3.0.1 and SMBX 1.3.

It takes me exactly forty-two seconds to load SMBX on Windows 7 with LunaDLL and SMBX 1.3.0.1. Unless I count my seconds faster than normal, it is very slow for me. Also, I don't have a laptop if this is vital or anything for SMBX to work briskly, but I just have a regular computer that isn't portable.

Well I've two SMBXs; 1 I make game on, which takes 2 minutes, and the other where I play others demos or episodes, which takes 30 seconds.
