I would make a P-Switch replacing the Skull Switch, and just edit the mask and .txt file. If you're unable to do so, I'll link you to a red P-switch Chad made replacing the Skull Switch as it may be an immense help to you.
Initially, I would make an event and name it whatever you want. For something uncomplicated, I'll name it "P-Switch Activation". Now, I would go to the layers tab and name a new layer whatever you want. I'll name it "Red Coins". Made sure it is unchecked. Back to the events tab, go on your event you made previously and put "Red Coins" in the "Show Layers" tab. Following that, in the same event, make the delay whatever you want in seconds, and that delay will represent how long the red coins will show until they vanish. After you set that, make another event. I'll name it "P-Switch Ends". In the P-Switch Activation event, however, your trigger event will be the one you just made (P-Switch Ends). On the P-Switch Ends event, you put "Red Coins" in hide layers. Conclusively, you have to take the P-Switch replacing the Skull Switch and go to the NPC events. Under "Death" or "Activate" (I think either one works) you'd select the event "P-Switch Activation". Test your level, it should work.
