Hello, I've talked to Joey and was given the go ahead to post my contest and it's a little different than most others. I bring to you the first..
Create a Metroid Level Contest
Or, CaML for short.

Rules

You will be given a month to create your level, using whatever gimmicks or what not that you like as long a you follow the following rules;
Your level must contain a boss.
You must use Metroid style design, tilesets, music and enemies
Your level must be at least 3-5 minutes long or more, however no longer than 10. Long levels are fun but sometimes they get dry.
You may use any type of area setting, as long as it is based from one of the original games (i.e. Metroid Fusion, Super Metroid .etc)
Abrasion of these rules will result in a DQ unless further discussed.

I only have need for three judges myself included so if you would like to be a judge send me a review and make sure you know at least enough about Metroid and the style in the games to be able to give a fair review!

Below I will hold the list of all the people that are making a level for the contest. There is no limit, so if you want in then go for it. I will not allow people after the first week of the contest though so you'd better be quick! I will bold the submitted levels as well.

Re: First CaML ContestI would like to participate and judge! But I have an issue with one of the rules!not every one can beat a level in the same amount of time! In CC11, I made a level that fits every rule but the "metroid enemies" rule. It took me 8 minites and 47 seconds to beat, but everyone else took an hour or more! (I know it is a, not an) Anyway, I only do video reviews, so how can I post one of my reviews? I would like to judge and participate!

I know you would like to get the fun of making the level and playing the submitted ones, but don't you think doing onne or the other is good enough? IT gives everyone a chance to do something, that way those that arent that great at designing can judge. See what I mean?
Also I understand your qualm with the rule but I mean average time to beat. |

Re: First CaML ContestOh. I was asking since All contests or at least 99% of them allow for that! So If I beat the level in five minute several time? And my beta tester takes a few hours, then how do I take that? I mean, metroid Games can be sequence broke, so you have to take that into consideration for a metroid contest if the levels can be sequenced broke, weather intentional or not! Also, what about the submitting a review if all are video reviews? Anyway, you can always get a backup judge... |

Yeah, it's just that I don't see how that would be fair since you would need to judge your level as well and that's why I dont see it as fair since it could possibly be a biased review. I understand what you're saying though. Video reviews are fine, but I would like a written one if you can do that. In regards to sequence breaking, not all Metroid game can be sequence broke, so I don't mind either way if it can or cannot be. As long as it's hidden well enough that you still get the idea of the way it was meant to be. |

Also, backup judges are meant to be used for judging the judges levels, or if the lag is to great for another judges computer! I understand what you are trying to say though! Re: First CaML ContestAlright, and for the review I really don't care you can review any level as long as I get an example review so you know what you're doing and what not. I'll put you down for both then, and I will allow backup judges and see how everything goes.

Re: First CaML ContestYour contest isn't the first ever Metroid contest! This one is. But still, this is a very interesting idea for a contest, and I'm not gonna judge or participate because I suck at doing non-Mario levels. I can at least do a Zelda level but it will look too generic. Good luck to those doing it.

I must say, I want judges to send me a pm if they want to judge with a review in it. participants post here that they are joining in on it. Any other suggestions or what not to avoid cluttering the thread up, can also be pmd to me. |
