I don't mean to come across as a dick but the process of registering was made ridiculously more painful than it had to be thanks to an awfully-chosen security question. The amount of times I got You have provided an invalid answer to the question. thrown at me despite providing a correct answer were innumerable and drove me up the wall.
The question in... question: "Name one of the companies (other than Nintendo) that developed Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U."
First off, the question is irrelevant to this forum and its purpose. Why am I being asked about Super Smash Bros. development company names on a Super Mario Bros. forum? That's just nonsense. Might as well ask me to name a specific Pokemon from #638 on the national Pokedex, just about as relevant and stupidly obscure to someone that doesn't play the game referred to in the question requiring me to work with Google to try and figure out my keywords and give me the correct results (which it didn't).
Secondly the answers aren't even correct. Not a single way of putting "HAL Laboratory" or "Namco" resulted in a successful registration while "Game Freak" was accepted. To my knowledge Game Freak didn't even help develop the game, they just own some of the characters used. It was just dumb luck I guessed that thinking the creator of the question had no idea what they were talking about. Turned out that was the case.
I can't imagine how many people tried to sign up just to get turned away by a poorly-implemented security measure. Seriously, replace this nonsense.

Hi, welcome to the forums. Googling "smash bros wii u developers" yields Google itself telling you that the developers are "Sora Ltd." and "Bandai Namco Entertainment". I would think that you'd try "Sora Ltd." first, and that's one of the accepted answers. "Bandai Namco Entertainment" wasn't an accepted answer, so that one's on me and I have fixed it.
Putting aside what Google did automatically, the first result is the Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U Wikipedia page where the game's infobox states that the developers are "Sora Ltd." and "Bandai Namco Games", which are both accepted answers. In addition, the first sentence of the article says:
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (Japanese: 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Nintendo 3DS Hepburn: Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Fō Nintendō Surī Dī Esu?) and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Wii U Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Fō Wī Yū) are fighting video games developed by Sora Ltd. and Bandai Namco Games, with assistance from tri-Crescendo,[8] and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles in 2014.
tri-Crescendo is also an accepted answer. Please let me know if you need anything else and, once again, welcome to the SMBX community.

You might want to really consider putting HAL as an acceptable answer as they also did work on Smash 4 and they're the more well known one besides Nintendo who worked on it https://wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Laboratory
Also isn't a security question something that you should know off the bat and shouldn't Google in the first place?

This is my main concern, the question should be tailored to the forum's content so someone that is going to it should know the answer while it isn't something a bot can just automatically know or calculate off the wording of the question. Maybe name a Mario enemy or something, it's something any regular person interested in this forum would know but not something a bot could calculate like "2+2=". This question is just irrelevant to the forum's content and extremely vulnerable to specific wording throwing it off such as the answers I entered.
Thanks for the welcomes though.

I happen to think the security question is kinky and versatile.
In all seriousness, we've had this argument before and I'll skip you to how it ended to save you time.
It's a good question depending on its intended purpose, which may not be what you'd think or typically expect of a forum's security question. I'll just say that.

I don't even get why we get such an "open" question as the captcha. Imo it should have one definitive answer (i.e. "Who's Mario's brother?" or something). Not only is it arguable which company actually has developed it (because apparently "Game Freak" is right while HAL isn't), but the different spellings (like Sora Limited not counting) make it really confusing. Assuming I did know that Sora Limited developed it, I'd write it down like that and it wouldn't work and I'd get confused.
I fail to see why you would choose something like that over "Who's Mario's brother?" or something. It's a clear question with one definitve answer and like 2 ways of bringing that answer across ("Luigi" or "Luigi Mario" for the fans of the SMB movie). A question with so many possible answers and so many different variations of those answers like the current question is sure to leave out some answers that are actually right.
I just don't see the appeal of such a question over a more simple and direct one. Even back when there was the Smash newcomer question, while it wasn't related to SMB, there at least was one definitve answer. I fail to see the appeal for this over a simpler question, because the current question seems togenerally cause confusion.

the year is 20xx
the security question for smbx.org is now about melee's developers
but because the actual game shifted so far into the background in favor of fox' frame data, no one can answer the question

Wow, really? Sora Ltd. was my first thought when I registered. Pretty easy question IMO.

It feels like a forced Nintendo products advertisement more than anything. I guess it is fairly easy to figure out though, as long as you use Google as the search engine, and copy that very specific wording from the info box there.

It's not wasting time its bringing up past points that no one else has covered over.

You brought up your own "point".
So only you are thinking that your Quote is important.

Literally what
I brought up my point because people are saying GOGFLE DIS and GAGGLE DAT while ignoring a point I already made a while ago
It's that simple, black and white, clear as crystal.
You're looking too much into it. I'm not saying my point only matters I'm saying my point is being overlooked.
If you want me to make another counter argument about the googling thing then fine. It should be obvious but..
Saying that googling things doesn't take too much effort is a bad excuse of forum registration. In the OP it's even stated that answers that he put in didn't work even though they should have. It's like you read half the OP, said TLDR and decided to post your thoughts.
