MECHDRAGON, doesn't that sound familiar? I remember telling you that exact same thing. This is what happens when you don't listen and don't take other people's advice. It just goes in one ear and out the other.

Enjl wrote: Judges tend to lean towards one or two rubrics in their reviews which vary from level to level. The rubric system is to keep that consistent and reduce bias caused by stuff like level style, gimmick or music to a minimum. (Yes, music can cause bias, and it often actually does.) Keep in mind I'm suggesting this system together with a few new judges to freshen up the roster. So it's also to help them out.
Okay, all of those things you just listed (except level style) do actually affect the quality of the level. The same base level with different music can drastically be different in quality. And gimmicks are important too. A level with gimmicks is probably better than it would have been without them. That's not bias, that's actual level quality.

I personally don't see how splitting a huge number (final score) into small numbers (score for each rubric) and then adding them together doesn't pay off if the alternative is sloppy and imprecise scores. I also still don't see how it's more work, as it splits the review up and instead of judging the level in one go, you objectively look at each aspect and add the numbers together. Like I said, judges kind of do that anyways, but in their mind.
It's just as you said, it splits the review up makes the judges objectively look at each aspect and add the numbers together, instead of judging the level in one go. If you or I become judges and run through a level, when you beat it, you can just list good and bad things about it that you liked or not, and slap the number onto it you or I feel it deserves. If a rubric system was implemented, the judge would have to list each thing that's good or bad, and now also categorize it and rate each category, as well as average the scores of the categories.

But, I do agree that the rubric system would be less sloppy and have less imprecise scores. That's obvious.

And this is why he's so obsessed with birds and also basically functions like one. xD

About me rating the scores as of how I judge these levels, basically what the others already said, they have their own opinion and rating scales. You do have to agree of what the judges are thinking about the level rather than just keep fighting against the glowing effects that is the black hole... you won't earn your delightfuls like that if you keep going against something that is already been finalized.

So who else is hyped for the last two tiers and Tower of Biased 10? Me, personally, I'm pumped for the last 3 levels.

I somehow made it to the top of tier 8. Not bad, and it's certainly much higher than I thought I was gonna get.

Just to clarify: the reason I'm focusing on the levels that bossedit8 rates lower is because, based on all of the judges reviews, it seems like he's putting a lot more weight on how a level looks than the other judges do, and personally, I don't think a level's graphics should be weighted as much as it seems like bossedit8 is weighing them since graphics don't affect game-play (except in a few extreme cases). It would also explain the scores that bossedit8 gave to Ludwig's Flaming Fortress and Secluded Sanctuary.

However, I don't know that for sure, which is why I want to play the levels myself first. I don't want to start anything; I'm merely expressing the reason for my actions.

I'm really surprised about the placements this time around. I'm looking forward to see who is in the top 10.

I know I didn't manage to get a level in for this one due to business and generally not having the drive to do it, but I promise I'll participate in the next contest. =P

I was expecting to get like a 6-7/10 on my level but apparently I'm in the top 20.
Glad the judges like it lol.

Maybe that's because this Top 20's levels are better than their levels.

We don't know who's going to win as of yet. May the best designer win. It will be me, actually, with the best level name ever.

I think Emral, SuperMario7 or Shinbison-Kof will win, bossedit8 is a great designer, but I don't think he's gonna win.
