Steven Universe

With the third Steven Bomb having dropped a few weeks or so ago, I figured it was high time this cool show got a thread. So how about those gems, eh?

This show is easily one of my all-time favorites. It's very light-hearted and fun but still manages to have a solid plot, emotional moments and valuable life lessons.Everything from the story, the characters, the writing and the soundtrack are amazing in my opinion. You can just feel how much time and love go into this show, because the plot is perfectly fleshed out and manages to tell a story in just 10 minutes of episode time. And the foreshadowing. Oh my god the foreshadowing. You can just tell how much thought and care went into this plot. You may think it's a simple kids show, and that's true, it IS a kids show, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable for older audiences, because the story and the characters are relatable for everyone at any age.

Finally, a thread about this!

Steven Universe is, by far, my favourite TV show. EVER. I'm really only up to episode 43 (Maximum Capacity) but so far, this show is AWESOME. I'm so glad I told myself to start watching it.

My favourite characters are tied at Steven and Peridot.

@Marina, @Bomber57 and @TNTtimelord brought me into Steven Universe and I'm gladly thankful for them. <3 <3 <3

I really love the series so far from Episode 000 up till 012. I need to watch some more in the future so I can keep it up to the further Episodes as of what it currently provides. Also I'm kinda bad at judging movies or TV shows so yeah.

Aww, I feel all fuzzy inside.

Yeah I can't believe I didn't notice we never had a thread for SU until now. Welp, here we are.

General rule for the thread: If you post anything that contains spoilers please put it in a, well, spoiler.

I thought that there was a topic for this buried back 3-4 pages, but I guess I was wrong. I absolutely love this show. When I first heard of the show (around the time uncle grandpa came out), I thought it was going to be atrocious. I am so glad I was wrong. I kinda got sad when I heard that Rebecca Sugar left Adventure Time to work on this, because I thought I'd hear no more ukulele. I didn't realize she made this though, and I instantly knew it was her show when steven pulled out a ukulele. The gems are
really complex yet simple characters, and all have unique stories to tell. At first they felt like they fit into character types- Garnet being the tsundere, pearl being the brainiac and amethyst beingg the slob- but once the story starts rolling, they reveal so much more about themselves. This is like the best show on Cartoon Network that I've ever seen.

Honest to god people I fucking don't get it. Why the hell post in the thread of a show IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW. Nobody there is going to agree with your opinion, unless they came to the thread to do the same. It's more of a dick move than anything.

Yeah I don't get the point either.

Anyways, concerning the extended vacation, I'm totally fine with it. The animators, storyboard artists, etc, really deserve it.

At first I did not like much because it was too childish. For example: cat cookie brought me crazy when I first saw and why there are so many stars? I understand wanting to create something childish, but is no excuse to put stars everywhere

The series is acceptable and now that I began to see again from the beginning has become one of my favorite especially after hearing "stronger than you"

OH NO

STARS Image

Jokes aside glad you wound up liking the series in the end anyway. Those early episodes are different from the rest, but its mostly because it had to establish the setting.

But no, fucking seriously how are stars childish.

People have a right to voice their opinion, negative or not, so I suggest that people stop attacking others over an opinion you don't agree with.

Well, the least they could do is elaborate beyond "this show is complete garbage".

Wow it's almost like he's a child, or something.
SnifitGuy wrote:...and the fact that he is the main character of the entire show really tells me that the show is about his idiotic decisions.
You're very wrong on that. Like that's not even an opinion thing, that's just literally not what the show is about, at all.
SnifitGuy wrote:That's not to say he always does things wrong; yes, he is the hero of the whole tv show, but the way he acts and how he goes about things is where I dislike him.
I can see why you'd dislike him, at least in the first few episodes, but imho he starts growing up and becomes less "annoying" as the show goes on.
SnifitGuy wrote:Now, for the rest of the show, the plot is flat out strange
With a premise like "half-human half-alien boy goes on adventures with sentient alien rock people and fights monsters", you can't really expect strange things to not be part of it.

Since you explained why you dislike the show, I'll be fair and explain why I like the show.

1. The artstyle. Something about it just really feels familiar, yet new to me. It kind of has a 80's cartoon vibe with splashes of video game-esque locations.
2. The characters. They're designed well, they have great voices, and I love nearly every interaction they have with eachother and the environment around them.
3. The re-watchability. I could seriously watch and rewatch some of these episodes for like days, maybe weeks.
4. The things that are being taught to kids. Boys are allowed to cry, love isn't something that should be forced, "If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs". The lessons being taught by this show are, at least in my opinion, important, and I'm glad kids are picking up on them and taking them to heart.

That's just four of countless reasons this show is my favorite. Steven Universe is great, m8.

You never said it was about him, and I never said the show wasn't about him. You said it was about "his idiotic decisions".
SnifitGuy wrote:You have your opinion, and I respect that, but don't go saying "That's not what the show is about at all," because that tells me you don't actually respect my opinion...
I respect your opinion. You don't like the show, that's fine! I'm saying that it's just flat-out not what you think it's about. I'd prefer you to dislike what the show actually is, instead of what you think it is. If that makes any sense.
Zeldamaster12 wrote:People have a right to voice their opinion, negative or not, so I suggest that people stop attacking others over an opinion you don't agree with.
Since when has a negative opinion ever promoted anything but an argument? If the point of posting in threads is to contribute to them, "this show sucks lel" does not add anything to anything, just like "this show is really good" doesn't contribute to anything.

That's not to say he always does things wrong; yes, he is the hero of the whole tv show, but the way he acts and how he goes about things is where I dislike him. I would try to argue this, but this guy argues my point better than I would:
