What...

That's not always the case. There are a lot of Open Source stuff that's ten times better than paid crap.

Let's see:
  • Open Broadcaster Software. Fucking amazing. Fucking. Amazing.
  • Atom. Awesome text editor, does not cost a crazy amount, and actually can be tweaked to your heart's content.
  • Hexchat. Now, I'm not 100% sure if it's open-source but I believe it is due to XChat 2 and the like. I will say that mIRC vs. Hexchat is a tough battle, though. But for those who don't want to shell out, Hexchat will not disappoint.
  • Paint.NET and GIMP are pretty good alternatives to Photoshop. GIMP isn't the best on Windows, but it's even better on OSX and Linux.
  • Countless others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Seriously, go use Open Broadcaster Software. It's really good.

Just read up on the two I was thinking of, and apparently they are free. Dafuq? Last I checked, you paid for some. WTF was telling me that you had to pay for things like Fedora?
I believe the only thing you have to pay for with Fedora is its cloud service. the workstations (desktop) and (I believe) server OS are free. But seriously because one has a paid service, you can't pull that out.

This. (Hexchat is open source btw)
Also,
  • PGE
And all of my programs I release are open source. That's right: Luigibot, the NPC Editor, Episode Manager, all open source. They may be shittily coded (at least the NPC Editor) but at least they work pretty well.
You know what open source has that proprietary doesn't? Contributors. Anyone can contribute a bug fix to an open source project. Whereas with proprietary, you have to go through the motions of submitting a bug report (or, ask it on the forums and pray that somebody has a hack around for it) and then pray it gets fixed in the next update. Now of course, Gimp will never replace my dear beloved Photoshop and Inkscape will never replace my Illustrator, but as I've said before: I won't get a job with 2+ years of Inkscape experience drawing who knows its, jobs want to see fluency in Adobe apps like Illustrator. Thus, if I show my certification, I have a better chance to get a job whereas without, I have virtually no chance (no company wants to train some random guy who only has open source experience). HOWEVER, that doesn't mean these apps are any worse. They are still good applications, I just have no drive to learn them or switch to them permanently.

I don't feel like quoting Axiom because it'd make this post half a page long, but he/she/I don't go here often enough to know is right.
There are definitely beasts that take priority over the open source variants, but the open source variants are always nice for people who can't afford $1000 software. Although with the case of Illustrator and Photoshop, I believe those problems have been alleviated anyways.

As for SnifitGuy: I don't know what communities you visit but most of the tech-related communities I browse around, open-source doesn't really have a bad reputation. I don't know where you got it, but that really sounds like an elitist viewpoint. There are horrible examples of open-source software, but as Axiom said before, some != all.

Also, as for Windows 10, I like it. It's what 8 should have been. I can't really say it's better than 7, but none have given me too much a hassle, bar actually installing Windows 10. (By that, I mean freshly wiping it was a PITA. Thanks, Media Creation Tool. Really enjoyed the Bluescreens.)

According to this blog written by a guy who supports: other software that spies like Chrome, calls Adblock users thieves, and only has positive things to say about Windows 10, it will give a fair and objective analysis on Windows 10 privacy concerns. Surely you jest.

"Also, if you take Microsoft’s word (and I will on this point), it doesn’t take any personally identifiable information and carefully anonymizes what it does take."

"Each Windows 10 computer is assigned a unique advertising ID so that programs that have ads can provide more targeted marketing messages to you. First of all, this feature is not unique to Windows; most Web advertisers track user activity for the purpose of serving relevant messages later. Ever browse Amazon and then go to an unrelated website and see an ad for the product you were just looking at? With everything they know about you, Facebook and Google are particularly good at reaching you."

SnifitGuy wrote: would you rather get an ad that has nothing to do with you, and when everyone uses your internet, they see it and think something of you because of it, or would you rather you get relevant ads. Let's be honest here; if anyone walked into your room right now, would you rather they see an ad related to boobs or an ad related to wires? Answer that, but I personally would rather have everyone know that I am a techy and not a lonely person...
The thing is that I don't get any ads. If I absolutely had to, I would rather have irrelevant ads because for one I don't want companies knowing what I browse or am interested in. Second, I don't buy things advertised to me. I don't go "Oh gee, if I hadn't seen that I wouldn't have gotten that." Whenever I make a purchase I already have in mind what it is, whether it be hardware or anything else. Also, you don't need to have ads to get relevant stuff to appear to you since pretty much all modern online stores have a variant of a "Suggested items," list based on my search activity on that siteand business with that site so I can get anything else I may need. No third-party meddling and tracking is needed. Now if you say that the site I'm using can track me based on my activity there based on my history there, then that is my problem.

All in all to answer you question nobody knows if I'm a "techy" OR "a lonely person."

Also food for thought:

That was posted on the 26th of January, for the Technical Preview. I'm pretty sure that's been fixed by now.

And if it wasn't fixed, I'm sure it'd be fixed soon. But a bug that old and significant is definitely fixed by now.

This might be better suited for your needs if you're going to act like a child and type in caps and link to irrelevant garbage.
