Saving in a level

Postby Super Mario Player » Tue Jun 23, 2015 4:37 pm

Hello.
I am making a Zelda episode on SMBX 1.3.0.1 and I don't wanna use a worldmap. And I know I can make a level in which the player will be able to save his progress. But I don't know how to do!
May someone help me?
NB: Sorry for bad English.

Use the "No World Map" inside the World Map's Settings in order to play hub designed games.

I have already done this. I checked both "No worldmap" and "Restart last level on death" options, and set the level in which the player will begin the adventure. But when I test the game, I can't save in any level.

That's because you can only manually save at the main hub of your game, not with a level that connects to the main hub level. Also, the game automatically saves once you go to another level.

I tried to save in the main hub, but there were two options, "Continue" or "Quit". There was no way to save manually (but the game was saved automatically, as you said).
NB: I didn't use cheat codes. I know that cheat codes disable saving...

Did you put ".lvl" at the end of the linked file on the world map's settings like where you actually start to the main hup?

I think yes. Is that the reason?

... I tried to run the game without putting the .lvl extension, but it still doesn't work.

You need the ".lvl" after the linked level in order to work functionally.

Just to provide further infos about saving, SMBX will save automatically after you beat any type of levels. This even includes warp pipes that leads you to a different level or on the world map. Once you die the progress won't be saved automatically but once you game over your game will be saved automatically before you go back to the title screen of SMBX. Once you press the "Pause" key (usually the 'Esc' key) the game is paused and you have either "CONTINUE", "SAVE & CONTINUE" or "SAVE & QUIT" although those options are only avaiable once you are on the world map or at the main hub of an SMBX Episode. Once you are inside a level of a world map or go to a different level that isn't the main hub of the Episode, your only avaiable options during pause is "CONTINUE" and "QUIT", which means you can't save during a level until you beat it.
