It's the sequel of Super Mario Enigmatic, I think, and reign decided to do it in SMB2 style for some reason.
Also, this looks very cool. I'll look forward to it, since I liked Super Mario Enigmatic too.

Let's say a revamp would be SME 1.5.
A sequel with totally new everything would be 2.0.

Super Mario Enigmatic Continuum is somewhere around 1.8.

As for the SMB2 -graphics. The first reason is I love them. The second and more important reason is, it is the most complete graphic pack available and I can make a complete episode with it with no clashing styles.
