That would be way too much work. Mods can't move people into groups, so every time a user gets banned we would need to notify an admin to move them into the group. It would be a big hassle for nothing significant.

It's not any of your business as to why they are banned. The staff will release that info if we feel it's right to do so. Respect for privacy and stuff.

As for knowing if they are banned (because, I'm assuming, you'd want to know when they will be online or if they won't be), it's still not our responsibility to tell you. You'll have to find some other method of communication with them. However, we will probably answer yes or no if you ask us whether or not a user is banned. We just don't give out that info automatically.

What's sad, though, is that we have to hand out temporary bans so much that people preemptively care about them.

I agree. There really is no need for banned users (except those that are permabanned) to have their status visible to everyone. Doing so would just stigmatize banned users in the eyes of people who may not be involved in whatever issue led to their ban or are even unaware of the ban. Even on a website where bans are visible, such as SMW Central (the username of a banned user there can be light blue, grey, red, or brown depending on the duration of the ban, and Banned or Account Disabled is added as a title beneath a username) the reason for a ban is almost never displayed except for those that are permabanned.

Amidst the heated debate concerning banned users and thread caps, we're ignoring a far more important and relevant problem. This section of the site should be called "SMBX Fora", not "Forums." Forum is a Latin word and therefore, fora is the correct plural.

That's reasonable enough. Okay.

Then perhaps maybe people should think before they post and cause a bunch of drama everywhere which in turn gets people banned for shitting all over the place.

Okay, in that case I don't care whether or not you make it visible, seeing as people can just ask.

I have a quote for you from google search results:
Although the proper Latin plural would be fora, forum has been adopted into the English language--and in most cases follows the rules of English pluralization. Similar changes can be seen with the adoption of other words like octupus (the proper plural would be more like octopedes, but in English we usually say either octopi or octopuses).

The current entry from the Oxford Dictionary says:

"The plural of forum is usually spelled forums; the plural fora (as in the original Latin) is chiefly used when talking about a public square in an ancient Roman city."

Since you're talking about online discussion boards, I would use forums instead of fora when you are talking about more than one. An English speaker might understand fora, but it wouldn't come as naturally.

No, It's not cascada. And cascade is singular :| It's not from latin. http://www.prefixsuffix.com/rootchart.php Seriously, the prefix casc is not there. And you know why? Because it's from french and italian. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cascade

This is why we need more early bird-admins, you barely never see them before 12.
Also this is the worst spam I've ever seen.

Or bots, they get rid of them faster than admins.

Sinem's legit here, she helped me clear them out since I don't know IRC syntax well. Thanks, Sinem.

Yeah, so, we were attacked yesterday and potentially DDoS'd. My provider must have shut down my server because it was completely off and had to be turned back on. All I know for sure is that the IRC got a pretty heavy spam attack.

I was gone for a while yesterday so that hindered my ability to deal with it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This site is not the only site that's being attacked. SMW Central is being attacked too (right now in fact), but you still can access the website by passing the "worst anti-DDoS system" (as Kevsoft said).
