As I play more and more SMBX levels, it seems as though 95% of them are using custom music tracks. I do see a few levels using the default music, but now, at this point, they're really rare to find, and a lot of those are off beginners that are learning to use SMBX.
Do you still use the default SMBX music at times? I have done so for some levels in TGCA Remake for nostalgic reasons.

For SMB1 levels (with true SMB1-styled and colored gfx) I always use the default but aside from them, not that much, just some smaller sections.

I usually use the Item Room song for small rooms with boss doors and for cutscenes.

Only the non-16 bit ones (SM64, most of the Misc. music).

Rarely. The 16-bit musics are too repetitive, and most of the others doesn't fit with anything I make.

I use a lot the default SMB2 musics in my project, since I haven't seen many songs which fits in a SMB2 level.

I still use it a lot, because most of them fit with the theme of my level. I use custom music too, because I don't want to be too repetitive. I'd say I use both default and custom equally.

I think I use custom music about 97% of the time, counting only what is on my desktop! My laptop included would w a mere 0.001%! Either way, I do use default music some times!

Not usually, but in an upcoming level I'm using the LoZ: ALttP Forest theme included with SMBX.
Even for an Item Room, I ended up using OFF's Pepper Steak theme (don't ask why)

Come to think of it, not as much as I used to. A lot of them have either been remastered by now or there is a better variant. This goes especially for the 16-Bit themes, I mean I try to use them, but they don't fit with the rest of the level or even the project in some cases.

I used and use default music, but I'll do it less then before, because my next project requires more customization.

My new SMBX Episode "MA - Arrival on Gensokyo" only utulize one Default Music so far. The rest is custom, obviously. Back then, I use Default Music a lot but some of them which is for most SNES relative or even better SMAS (Super Mario Allstars) I use some custom Music for mostly on those cases.
I still use 'em but not so for my recent SMBX Episode which is mostly Touhou based anyway.

Sometimes, usually when its just a small part of a level I would use default music since I don't really need to add custom music on such a small part of the level. This wastes some of my disk space.

This is the biggest Problem so far on recent SMBX Episodes since most of them only utulizes custom Music and that pretty much quarantee to build your filesize even bigger than some older Episodes like The Invasion and The Invasion 2 since those don't even have custom Music files what so ever. They use Default Music on every single Levels and sections and by that, your download Speed is relatively fast paced instead of being slow like pretty much every Tower of Biased Episodes we have as of now.

Yeah, just look at the overworld section of Shy Guy Caverns in NGCA. It's a one screen section, but there is an extra music for that. (remix of SMB2 overworld theme)

I decided long ago to slowly start replacing the songs in the music folder that fit in. In level creation? Nope.

2/3 of people here still use default music? WHAAAATTT?????
On SMW Central, custom music is practically required to get even a shitty level hack in their collection. It's like, Hmmm, nice athletic SMW theme is too vanilla, but cat scratching chalkboard or Admin's farts are new, underused song, so not use them instead?
