"Oh, they're making this a full-length movie now?" (because I'd already seen the viral video this movie is based on, that lasted all of two minutes)
"Oh, it's because Adam Sandler wanted this to happen." (because Adam Sandler's face appeared)
Pretty sure that the "viral video" is the trailer rofl
Well, you know what they say about assuming.
I was heavily implying that there are two different videos. I watched the trailer, thinking that it reminded me of a video I'd already seen on the internet of the same name. This video, in fact: https://vimeo.com/10829255
In my opinion, that video and its length is exactly how much the concept is really worth. It's cute, but in a full-length movie it just seems like shallow pandering.
I'm not a big sandler fan, but his stuff on snl way back was pretty funny. anyways looks like something that will either be pretty decent or really really bad.
At least Sony does some great movies, some even look like you would be there if it existed.
As for Adam Sandler, he's ok, but I wouldn't suggest him in an animated movie.
Joey wrote:Just because it was "made" by an entity other than Nintendo doesn't mean that the people that are actually behind it would be incompetent enough to mess up 80's Donkey Kong.
Also, Adam Sandler and Kevin James? *sigh*
Those to are not bad actors, to choose.
And I agree with you Joey, Sony have made movies that became Blockbuster hits.
What do I think about the movie?
It actually looks pretty awesome, but not AWESOME, awesome. The Trailer look good, but what concerns me is, why they don't have Super Mario Bros., the one that you jump underneath the platform to kill the turtles, crabs, etc. Was it because Mario and his brother are good guys, and having them act like bad guys wouldn't make any sense? - Could be the case, but PacMan is a good character, but they made him bad. I understand Donkey Kong acting as a bad guy, because he is the bad buy in his game.
i knew that pixels would get his own movie. i had a dream about it. but im disappointed that its not based on him..- aah nvm, the movie looks good, but i honestly dont like the characters tha much, and i wonder how they will avoid copyrights.

I mean I was gonna watch it regardless because you rarely see a movie about video games, but I'd rather rewatch Wreck-It Ralph because that movie actually cares about its source material.
Did anyone expect this to be anything of value? It's Adam Sandler in a videogame movie. That's like taking block bollocks and adding 1x1 pixels in it.
I feel like video game movies that aren't based off any specific game can go really well, see: Wreck-It Ralph. I didn't expect it to be great, but it really turned out to be just... bad.
A friendly reminder that adam sandler/happy madisons productions are souless tools for adam's (possible) embezzlement scheme.
(honestly this video is really great, it finally helped me realize what I didn't like about these type of movies)

Also, even the plot revolves around video games, video games themselves aren't the plot in Wreck It Ralph. It's the story of a man coming to grips with his place in the world, a power hungry dictator, and a little girl whose story parallels Ralph's as she learns that she can be more than what she is told she is. Not just "hurr durr Mario Sonic" like Pixels is.
