and btw there are lots of 2009 users that i haven't seen around. people probably HAVE left SMBX for good and have no intentions of returning. they probably forgot all about it.

I've been an on-off member of this community since SMBX 1.1, and while it feels like the forum is dying, I wouldn't describe it as such. We still get a fair amount of activity in all of the sub-forums, and some new threads here and there. Instead, it feels like the community is becoming less and less of a family than it used to be.
Part of the reason it feels like this is that we have an influx of new members, and we don't see many new posts being made by these members. If I take a look at the sub-forums, I basically see the same group of users starting and replying to threads. These are the users who have been here for almost a year or longer. The levels sub-forum is a different story, but it also seems kind of inactive. We don't see many new levels being posted for official review, and there isn't much feedback on levels, even in the casual section- only about 3 or 4 replies on average. Usually, it's the older members who post in these areas too. I think that newer members tend to feel isolated or alienated from the "big men on campus" (or in this case, the forum), and we don't do much to have them feel included in discussion. Granted, they need to post more often, but how do we get new members in on conversations?
The forum feels like it's dying because we have these inactive, new members as mentioned above, and then we've got older veteran members who leave the community after growing tired of SMBX. This creates a situation where all of the users in between these two groups feel like they are shrinking, because as time goes on they either leave or stop posting. We've also got members who leave and come back sporadically (myself unfortunately included). I've left this community three times, and each time I come back to a new forum that looks big, but doesn't feel big.
I also feel like we do less and less SMBX related stuff. The community was a lot more active back in the days when SMBX was actually being worked on, but since then people have felt like there's no reason to be a part of a community with hardly any escape from the clutches of video game demise. As SMBXxer stated, the community is like a ghost town. We've got members, but a hell of a lot of inactive ones.
I don't really know what we can do to preserve this community and possibly bring it back to the way it once was, other than continue doing what we're doing.

Zeldamaster12... Kyasarin and Luminous were horrible and dampened the fun but it was nowhere as bad as this.
And I'm not saying you're angry,Vinyl Scratch.I'm saying that back in 2009 there wasn't as much anger and hate as there is right now.

I'm pretty sure being thrown around, insulted, and banned for the smallest of things all by two terribly abusive admins is worse than staff not listening to a couple people.
If you think that times are worse now than when those two were in power, there's something wrong with you.

Were you there, though? I'm sure you're right, but it's always something to take into account.

I wasn't there, but I know multiple people from the olden days of SMF that were, and God knows how much people talk about them here.

Of course, with legends come tall tales.
Now, I trust your judgement as a judge would trust a jury's verdict, as it seems to be a collective opinion throughout the userbase.

While Kyasarin and Luminous were pretty bad when it came to power, they were pretty okay otherwise. Just the same with DarkMatt, actually. Power being put into the wrong hands is actually not that good, because they will find ways to abuse it, just as Kyasarin, Luminous, and DarkMatt did.
Even if it was pretty bad back then, we still have it bad now. Both kinds of bad are on different levels, however. It was bad back then because of the unruly staff, and it's bad now because the staff aren't listening. You can't compare them to figure out which one is worse, they're equally bad situations.

Kyasarin and Luminous followed a similar philosophy that I do, except they were way more strict. You guys gotta look at the situation without all the emotional weight you had when you were 11 (especially if you weren't actually there for it) and realize that they were just enforcing the rules really hard and had a low tolerance/compassion level for immaturity.
I'm not saying they were good staffers (they weren't), but their actions weren't that difficult to understand.

You grasp that this is an online discussion board right? It's not a school, it's not a political system, whatever. It's just a forum for people to talk about SMBX and similar interests.
The fact that you (the community as a whole) have compared this place to the next general election is baffling when you realise that no other forum actually does this.
The SMBX community is either its own sub-section of the internet, or a forum full of entitlement issues. I wouldn't even consider it a forum because of the dos and don'ts that don't really mean anything.
There isn't a reason to make users follow such a strange and questionable system but at the same time they are not obliged to stay here. It's just.......bizarre, when you REALLY think about it.
consider the impression all this must make on new users, too. All these lengthy discussions and speeches about a forum that has never been content with itself.

Why do you think that the staff isn't super active? They're busy with life.

Isn't just directed at Joey. It's everyone.
Here's a question for everyone..
what is the end goal? what is everyone trying to achieve?

Having fun and interacting with people that have the same interests as me/are cool to talk to and partly making levels and sharing them with the community. Simple as that.

I agree. What are you trying to achieve by criticizing what people do in their free time?

Does any forum have an end goal? It's not like we're all waiting on something to happen that will end this community, y'know. We're just here to have fun.
If anything, the end goal is to create a thriving community for people interested in SMBX.

Classic Knux.
He makes a vague point, but it's so covered in bullshit that it's hard to grasp and understand fully.

I think we should save any and all misgivings about whether or not Palisade is Knux. It's not worth it; if his points are invalid, his points are invalid.
I just want this to be a place where we can all chill. I really don't care about SMBX itself that much.
