Super Mario Bros. X For Mac

Just got SMBX working on wine!
Download the wrapper here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/f19ew ... or_Mac.zip
Some bugs to watch out for that I've yet to iron out are:
- Must check "Disable Sound" at start of game or it will crash.
- Must NOT use custom character graphics or you will get "Error 481: Invalid Picture" every time you exit testing.
Some things that are a bit more complicated:
- To access the folder containing worlds/graphics etc. you must right click/ctrl click on the application and chose "Show Package Contents" the go to Contents --> Resources --> wineprefix --> drive_c --> winebottler

Update:
- To get an episode to load in the normal game you must copy the world to the winebottler directory in the wine prefix. Not sure how to find the prefix on computers other than my own right now. The directory should be something like /Users/{Your Username}/Library/Application Support/com.yourcompany.yourapp_14085838128517/drive_c/winebottler

PS: If you find this version unsatisfactory, there is another method at http://web.archive.org/web/201306120453 ... c3137.html (Thanks to Imaynotbehere4long for this)

*This application was made with winebottler and sever winetricks I do not claim that this is the version possible, to be honest I kind of threw it together. If anyone comes out with a superior version please let me know and I will direct anyone here to the superior version*

I remember seeing a tutorial for this on the NSMBX forums; maybe it will help with your bugs?

I'll try that out. It seems way more complicated than my method though. All I did really was set up a wine bottler application and add the necessary winetricks to run a basic VB program.

So I've fixed some things. First of all, don't use the WineBottler app I linked. Just wine should do, all you have to do is use Winetricks. Vb6 is the main one needed to run. I also recommend DirectPlay, and DirectMusic. Those get the sound working. I still get the "Invalid Picture" error after 10 minutes or so of gameplay, it tends to appear much less on levels with few custom graphics. For mac users who only really want to edit. I reccomend this: (http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... =69&t=1147). It's an alternative editor to make levels for SMBX that works without errors in wine (no winetricks needed). The only problem is that overworlds created in the overworld editor are not functional in SMBX (Levels are though), and that it does not have a test function. You have to open the levels in smbx to play them. I recommend keeping an smbx level editor window with your level open behind the replacement editor, and when you're ready to test just save the level in the replacement and test the level in smbx, but say 'no' when it asks you to save first. This will load the level you've been editing in the replacement to test.

You don't need DirectMusic anymore: http://www.smbxgame.com/forums/v ... 20#p126520 (thanks to LunaDll)
