So, today's the day of the pranks and whatnot. Memorable examples of April Fool's I've found so far today include /r/nintendo having a Tingle look and this masterpiece:
I just ate Washington D.C. I don't care if it's still the 31st here, that was amazing.
Can't you just imagine the Police radios:
"All units we are in pursuit of a Giant yellow sphere, last seen on Route 66 murdering four ghosts with a giant drug ball. It is now heading southbound down the interstate at approximately 300 "wakas" an hour. Do not intercept as you maybe be edible and helpless."

That's actually the plot to Pixels
I didn't even think of Pixels when I came up with that... Quite a weird coincidence actually. Maybe the Google Maps Pac-Man thing is some sort of promo tool for Pixels, or it's just another Easter Egg like Google Images Break Out.

I think it will be, since it's more of an original concept unlike the 150 or so Disney princesses or Fast and Furious 345.8. Being different, usually has an effect on people, and in this case gamers I would assume this will have a decent amount of popularity providing Sony hasn't bitten off more than it can chew. Taking on some of the biggest and most well-known arcade games is a very big pair of Kuribo Shoes to fill, so if they don't get it right, there will be a lot of hate being thrown around or directed at Sony. It's a risky venture, but if they actually think about what they're doing they'll get it right.
