Sure but on a few Areas in the Pipe/Piranha Land there were some Desert Areas aswell as Levels for some reason...
I can only say that there are infinite amount of Worlds you have. Like PC World, Black World, City/Village and so on. There are a lot of experiences and Ideas you can make around for a World.

"The Best World" is a very subjective term. My favorite levels in videogames usually tend to be the ice levels for purely aesthetic reasons. Every SMBXer's idea of "The Best World" is going to be something different. You will have to tell us what yours is.

Maybe Arid Grassland or Semi-desert can be good world type too. (they're about same)
It has some grass but drier than a regular grassland and wetter than desert.

At ma new game, World 1 would be Grass, World 2 would be Desert, World 3 would be Water, World 4 would be half Jungle and half Giant, World 5 would be Ice, World 6 would be half Mountain and half Pipe, World 7 would be Sky, World 8 would be half Haunted and half Lava, and World 9 would be Space

I'm fairly sure that worlds are basically like levels, there really isn't much in the way of limits, it really is only a limit of graphics. However, here is the list of world types I wrote up ages ago, it might be missing a few, but it has ones from official games and also ones I've seen in SMBX projects:
Grassland
Desert
Underwater
Beach
Giant
Sky
Ice/Snow
Pipe Maze
Lava
Forest
Mountain
Cave
Bridge
Ghost/Halloween
Machine
Food/Candy
Crystal/Gem
Carnival
Dynasty
Dream
Reality
Mirror
Dreamland (Subcon)
Item (World Mushroom etc)
Body (SML2's Whale)
Space
8-Bit (Nostalgia)
Crossover
Joke
Cyberspace
Micro
Bonus/Rainbow
Castle
Ruins
Flipside

Just thought about one:
Negative, every colour is turned into the opposite one.

It's not that hard, you just have a specific version of paint and then you can just press the ''negative'' button.

What about "Pipe" you know um... remember in Super Mario Bros. 3 there was a seventh world called Pipe Maze, it's a world type of Pipe!

The standard worlds in a Mario 2D normally go like this.
World 1: Grassland
World 2: Desert
This is where things change. Nintendo has done the NSMB series world map differently, but I'll explain that here. (I'm not counting NSMB2, and NSMBU because that falls under a mix of NSMB and NSMBW world map choice.)
NSMB (New Super Mario Bros) World 3: Beach
NSMBW (New Super Mario Bros. Wii) World 3: Snow/Ice
NSMB World 4: Jungle/Forest
NSMBW World 4: Beach
NMSB World 5: Snow/Ice
NSMBW World 5: Jungle/Forest
And then after that, the pattern is normal.
World 6: Mountain
World 7: Sky (I can't use white.)
World 8: Dark Land/Lava
And finally World 9 which is rainbow colored and contains levels from the levels from the 8 previous worlds that have there gimmicks together in one clusterf**k bunch.
Not kidding when I say that Nintendo decided to make a level in NSMBW's World 9 that has a Jungle theme with Venus Fire Traps everywhere, and the only platforms you can stand on were made of ice that melts when a fireball hits it and pipes that the plants came out of. I'm dead f**king serious.
BTW, Super Mario World doesn't follow this pattern.
