Call me MJ if you want. Okay, so if there are a list of rules already on the site, please let me know respectfully, and not "DUDE, JUST LOOK AT-". I simply want to know the rules for posting an episode. I am currently working on one and hoping to release by 2015-2016. Thanks.

There are currently no specific rules for the Episodes forum - you're free to post any episodes you make, assuming they're finished. If they're not finished, they go in the Projects forum.
The Forum Rules are also a good thing to read, as well as any rules threads located in specific forums. You can find the Forum Rules in the list of announcements that appears when you view a specific forum (they can also be accessed through the User Control Panel).

Yeah, but you have to post screenshots or videos, and a properly working download link.

So could I possibly post, say, a demo in the project section?

If you have something downloadable and playable, it can go in the Episodes forum; single levels go in the Levels forum.

In the Episodes Forum, basically you need a SMBX Episode that is 100% finished like it is fully playable and then it can go there with a download link and some screenshots/videos to share aswell.

So here is the conclusion. If it is playable, demo or not, it can go in the Episodes section? I am truly sorry if I am giving you a hard time. i simply don't want to be punished for breaking any rules.

Normally, if you only have a demo and it's WIP, it goes into projects . If it's finished, you can request it getting moved to Episodes. As for other general rules, most of the rules from the Levels subforum apply.

Can you guys get better at explaining lol.
If you want to post a 100% complete episode, put it in the Episodes forum complete with screenshots and a download link and any other information you want.
If you want to post a demo or work-in-progress episode, put it in the Project forum with screenshots (and a download link if it's a demo) as well as any other information.
If you want to post a singular level, it goes in the Levels forum with screenshots and a download link as well as any other information.
I would recommend using a file sharing site like Mediafire or DropBox for the download, don't use 4shared. Also use an image hosting site like Imgur for the screenshots.
From what I've seen so far, breaking the rules of posting a level/episode only result in the thread being locked until you can fix whatever the current problem is, be it missing screenshots or a missing download link. It hasn't, as far as I'm aware, led to anything more serious than that.

Except demos are only in project topics because it's easy to update it that way, as people are already following the project thread.
For example, if I ever want to put up the Kingdom Crisis demo from 2010, I'd post it in the Episodes forum. I'd call the topic "Kingdom Crisis Demo 1" so people know it's a demo.

As long as it's not done extremely repeatedly the thread getting locked is all the consequences.
And Joey, I don't think anyone does it this way. There are lots of projects w/ demoes in the Projects subforum, and I don't think there's a single unfinished Episode with a demo in the Episodes subforum. So far, it's been always done like 8bit described it.

But generally people that have work-in-progress episodes usually put up a short tech-demo or early access to the game before it is completed.

Demos are usually posted in project threads because they're a part of the project production process.
As long as it's standalone (finished or truncated, i.e. not bits and pieces of a project) and playable, it can go in the Episodes forum. If you have a project and are releasing a demo for it, you can put it in your project thread or post it in the Episodes forum. It doesn't really matter.

I really disagree with that, Episodes should be finished stuff and finished stuff only. If you decide to split it into parts like SMLegends, that's fine since each part's advertised as a full episode. If you just jsbe a demo however, like Lowser's revende by Sednaiur, but it's only ever advertised as a demo, thenit should stay in pprojects because well, it's a WIP. Also, you should always play a demo with the midnset that it's a demo in mind, or else you might be disappointed. If it's in the Episodes section, imany have the mindset that wjat they're aboit to play is the real deal.

The Episodes forum applies only if you're creating another thread for the demo. You would not create another thread for the demo in the projects forum.
However, if you decide not to create another thread for your demo, you would obviously just use the project thread you already created (assuming you have a project thread).

I don't think you'd need an additional thread just for a demo, but it does make more sense then what I thought you meant.

THIS is the overall summary including everything I thought of
finished projects go in the episode forum
all episodes and projects have to have screenshots/videos
a playable demo either goes in the project topic or (If its near completion of the actual episode) it might be able to go in the episodes
if you have a few lvls you want people to play finished, the few levels go in separate level sub-forum topics
images should be uploaded from good sites e.g. imgur, people have tried many other things which just never work (e.g. someone actually put the file location of a screenshot on there cpu, didn't even slightly work xD) so sticking with the basics can be almost necessary
when posting screenshots, make sure to post the best ones for people to like and support your project more, as well as adding things like signature banners and logos to increase popularity (since people can see the banners and go directly to you project even if they don't go on the project forum)
if I missed anything tell me and ill edit this post, but that's about all I can think of

Does this apply to WIP projects also, or does it have to have some sort of download for it as well?
