What's best to do first in SMBX and what are medals?

I'm Starting a project in SMBX, but I don't know what's best to do first in SMBX... Should I start with creating a World Map first? Should I start with creating a new Level? Creating new graphics, characters, blocks, etc? Music? Story? What do you guys think is the best way to start making a project in SMBX? :s Also what are medals and how do you achieve them? Do you have to make lots of posts to get?

I would make the world map first, and then levels, and make each world one by one as you do the levels! Story should be irat if you plan on doing a story!

I would decide on the playable characters before ou make a level though!

What's best to do first in SMBX?

• My suggestion is to get familiar with custom graphics, NPC text files, and the level editor itself. Check out the Wiki, play some Levels for inspiration, and just mess around.

What are medals?

• Medals are not currently available, but the staff has said that they are coming soon.

I've been where you are, and it's really all about what you think you'd do best. There are really a few places the community has divided work into:

• Graphics. Because this community believes you NEED Custom Graphics in your levels to make the best levels. In regards to new content (since you can actually change the way NPCs act), it's true to a limited degree.
• Levels (Doubt I'd need to explain these)
• Projects (Also known as Episodes, basically the "games" you play in SMBX. Complete world maps that work in tangent with levels to create a new game.)
• Battle Levels. Nobody really knows about these because hardly anyone has two siblings simultaneously interested in SMBX to fight each other. Also, online simulation for this hasn't been attempted yet.
• Intro levels. You know the title screen of SMBX where everyone's jumping around? That's actually a file called intro.lvl in your SMBX folder. You can replace it with a different intro and do whatever you want with the computer-controlled Marios! Go crazy with that, I know I have lol. Fun stuff to change around.

Once we update the board software to the newest version on phpbb (if we haven't already), the medal plug-in/mod thing won't work if I remember correctly.
So... we won't have them for a while most likely.

Medals most likely won't serve a purpose at all. I don't really see them as useful and they won't ever get finished anyway.

You can start anywhere you like in SMBX but first of all, read the guides that is in the SMBX Files and read it fully in order to understand the functionality. After that, I do recommended to make the World Map first to get your Imagination done of the main Level themes later on on your creations. Of course it's all your choice when you want to make but make sure you start a Level easy and then later on it gets more difficult since you are Progressing the game and so on.

About Medals, like others already said, it is currently unavaiable. Sooner or later in the future they will be implemented but right now it is currently on a stand still. At the beginning however, there was a Medal awarded but more like a Test run if it works since later on during the time it was removed and now we have no avaiable Medals.

every person has there own way of making a project. e.g. I start with story and levels, then make world map after finishing a certain amount and start making more levels to add to the world map, I basically do both at the same time.
and the closest thing to medals we can access are ranks :/

At SMBX Revived there were ranks like "Good GFX Designer", "Nice guy", "Helper", "Warm welcomer" and some more ranks that I can't remember.
I don't know how it will be here (if ever will be).
