Freddy Krueger was partially spooky, Scream was a thriller movie but had a lot frightening sights, and by far Insidious is the scariest. I had nightmares for the next three days about this white witch; not sure particularly why.

Freddy krueger would be the most scary thing of all time sadly though Im not scared of 80s movies and the remake just...no
I dunno though,I kinda have goosebumps whenever I watch some horror movies, but they never really give me nightmares or anything.

Of the few horror movies I've seen, they tend not to actually scare me that much during the movie, but afterwards, when I'm reflecting on what happened or whatever let the nightmares begin.

I've hardly seen any horror movies but I'll just go with Evil Dead considering it was particularly gorey to me.

I haven't seen many horror movies that much, and by many I mean over 45 or so.

Most of Stephen King's works are scary in particular, and that's the base of what I've watched, especially "It".

One movie in particular that scared me shitless had to be The Exorcist. For some reason it's always been that way, and I can't figure out exactly why. None of the other movies scare me as bad as The Exorcist did. Not even The Blair Witch Project (which was pretty scary imo)

Most of you speak of movies with rather unrealistic topics such as the Exorcist, Freddy Kruger, the Conjuring and such. If I've seen a really scary movie, it's always worse when it comes to realistic events or at least the closest to reality, The House Of Wax. Even though it's not your typical scary movie, it comes to a more physiological type of movie.

The Conjuring is as realistic as can get, paranormal/ghostly activity can occur in reality and The Conjuring is based off of a true story.

Never seen paranormal activity, and seriously, the Conjuring is just based on another exorcist-like event that I really doubt it would be real, despite it says it is based off of a true story.

Most horror movies aren't realistic in a sense anyway.

Even if it's unrealistic, however, it can still scare you.

I've watched many "scary" movies and none of them scared me even one bit. The only movie that could scare me like I said was the House of Wax.

That's because you probably expect them to be sinister, but they're bound to be a thriller and what people don't understand is that horror and thriller are to totally different terms. Thriller is typically used for like this murderer monster, and you're always pumped to figure out what's going to happen at the end because usually the beginnings make no sense (ex. a car crash occurring). Horror is bloody, gory, witches, wizards, jumpscares, and mysteries. They take place in just one house the whole entire movie, most of the time.

Also, you admitted The Conjuring was scary on the thread I made on SMBX:R about it.

Wrong. I said it was on a high scare scale, but never said "I" considered it scary to me on any way.

*snip*
Kep, by that logic, The Exorcist is considered a horror movie, as it's set in the same exact house, and it revolves around a girl getting possessed by the devil/Satan, and it also questions God. I'm not religious in any way, but it's still a fairly interesting and scary movie.

Of course, after all it's about the watcher's opinion, so we can't determine which movie is scary to everyone. I do think those kind of movies are interesting as you remark 8bitmushroom, but I do not consider them frightening enough. I could think maybe of a creepy movie such as One Missed Call or any other one, which the Exorcist and many others fit in the list, but when we define the term "Scary", in my opinion, the more realistic and that shows more probabilities of being true are the ones that scare me the most. Because there's nothing that could scare us the most than being in the bone and flesh of the protagonist.

No it can't. It just… can't. If it can't be tested then it's a coincidence. Don't want to derail the topic but this is woo-promotion right here.
