Super Mario Bros: Nebula Belt

Oh hey look, it's Sandwichface's project thing.

Yes, it has finally reached that point in development where I'm ready to show it off.

NOW ONTO OTHER THINGS:

Story:
Spoiler: show
5 years earlier...

"I have good news everyone!" Princess Peach exclaimed.

"Bowser has finally been defeated for good!"

The once quiet crowd of Toads suddenly erupted into roaring applause. Peach kissed both Mario Bros. cheeks as a "thank you"
gift.

After an evening filled with party games and cake, the Mario Bros. went home to take a nap...

Meanwhile, in the Valley of Bowser (or at least what remained of it), Wart had heard the news of Bowser's defeat and had
come to check on him...

...Only to find a mountain of rubble and ash. And at the very top of this mountain, was Bowser's charred skeleton.

"Bowser! How in the world did you end up like this?" Wart said.

No response.

"Oh my... this is bad... very, very bad! Ribbit!"

Suddenly, Wart had recalled something he saw inside the Mushroom Kingdom Space Travel Association (M.K.S.T.A for short), as Wart had just invaded and taken over this establishment.

On those brightly lit computer screens, was an image of a strange galaxy. Beneath that image:

"Nebula Belt: Dangerously high levels of energy are emitting from this..."

"Wait a minute, the Nebula Belt!" Wart exclaimed.

"If I, the great king Wart, can somehow harvest the power of the Nebula Belt..."

"Then I can flow it's energy into Bowser's skeleton, which will make him completely indestructible!"

"First, the Mushroom World, then, the Universe! Gwahahaha! Ribbit!"

Wart then rounded up his 8-bits, and they returned to the M.K.S.T.A to research the Nebula Belt.

As the years went by, Wart had been executing the first steps of his master plan.

His 8-bits disguised as Leaders of the Mushroom World's many kingdoms.

They attacked these kingdoms, angering and weakening them.

Until finally, all the Kingdoms waged war on each other...

...

...

...

"Hey, wake up, please! We need your help!"

This is gonna be incredible interesting. I can see that the Story is not what I have been seen so far from a lot of other SMBX Episodes I have been Encounter. About the Screenshots, they are good but at some it just bothers me. It isn't recommended to add Pokeys that are adventuly Walking on slopes as they can split off and can causes visual Errors like that the Faces aren't shown during the slopes after the top one isn't there. Another Thing is that some of the decorations are Kind of lacky like it misses a few of them on the most part of the screenshots. Other than that, I do look Forward to this SMBX Episode once it is finished.

That's an interesting idea for a project, and really unique as well. However, it seems like there's too many worlds. I would advise against having over 10 mandatory worlds in a project because it'll get boring for the player as well as design, and it may end up getting cancelled. Be careful about your world lengths.

Well, This project is going to have you save the entire Mushroom World, which I feel should be longer than just 8 or 9 worlds. I'm also going to make each world have unique species of enemies specific to that world (alongside the usual Goombas, Koopas, Piranha Plants, etc.).

Also, here's a new level that's a little different from other levels:
Image
See that odd red pedestal on the ground? Yes, I known there's a key involved, but to get it to appear you need to collect...

Red Coins!

In the level pictured here, you'll need to collect 4 Red Coins. But later in the game, it might be 6, 8, or even 10 Red Coins!

How does that sound?

EDIT: Here's a new level for Cloud Sanctuary:

Sorry about the double post, but...

Here's another screenshot of the desert level shown in the original post.
Image
Yes, this is the generic "First part is a desert then the second part is inside a pyramid" level of the episode.

The clouds are too even. Try laying them out like the tree BGOs in Super Mario World, with dips and all that.

Don't worry, that's been fixed already.

Also, in that same level...

What's this? A group of Hammer Bros. are blocking the level exit!

As you can see, there will be some levels that have Hammer Bros. or some other mini-boss blocking the exit. Once you've defeated all of the Hammer Bros., the key will appear, and you can open the door to the level exit.

If this is your first project (and I can assume that it is), I suggest you tone down the scale. I mean, really, 16 worlds? 8 worlds should be enough, 9 if you can handle a bonus world. Hell, you could even go Yoshi's Island and just have 6 worlds. 16 mandatory worlds plus bonus worlds is just...much. UNLESS your worlds are really short (and judging by the screen of the rather bland World 1, I'm guessing this is NOT the case), there's no way you could WANT to make a 16+ world game for what its worth.

Just some advice.

Yes, really.

That World 1 design may be changed sometime in the future.
PaperPlayerX wrote:There's no way you could WANT to make a 16+ world game for what its worth.
Fun fact: I do, and here's why:

Most episodes/projects I see have the same old "8 mandatory, 1 bonus" setup that's seen in most Mario games. Which brings me to my point:

My idea is to make this episode stand out upon the various amounts of episodes that come and go around here. I didn't want to make the usual 8/9 world episode that would be quickly forgotten about after it was released. An episode that makes you feel like you're on an actual adventure, not something you could finish in about an hour, say "that was cool", then play another episode. This isn't something you can just finish in one sitting, this is an experience that will last for much longer. I'm trying to create a Mario adventure unlike any other.

tl;dr: I want to make a different kind of episode that will last longer than a usual episode.

Also the Underwater level seen in the screenshots has been scrapped, I just wasn't proud of the (almost) finished level.

Anyway, this is what I'm replacing the scrapped underwater level with:

A few more bricks would improve this, and also, what is the glass ball on the pillar supposed to be?

Some kind of statue. I'll probably replace it with a custom graphic later.

If the work map gets custom graphics, I would like to see that, but I will record this for you if you want, it looks somewhat fair!

I actually played and beat a 16 world episode in one sitting, so there is that, it was a race, but still!

Here is a fun-fact; as long and big this is advertised to e, I think my episode, both versions are each desperately longer then this will, and you may proof me wrong with that, but still! 9.999 stars is hard to beat, but this does look a little interesting! Will this have any stars?

You can advertise your project all you want in your sig, but please don't advertise it in other's episode threads. It's not forbidden, but not all that cool either.

On topic, this project looks pretty decent, but I don't think the castle background of the water level fits with the underground tileset too well.

I am sorry, but does that mean I can not compare it to my own? I am not trying to advertise, I am just saying that every one is calling this a long episode, when it really is not! I am stating I think I beat I in one sitting, even if the sure says it is planned not to be possible! I did LFFTMK in one sitting, so there is that! I am sorry fr comparing this episode t mine, I eas trying to complement I to you know!

Ya know I like longer levels and episodes, so I think it would of fit.
