can't wait for you to rage at the second section of death valley. I'm pretty sure it's genuinely impossible unless you're ultra lucky, you're going to want to kill me.

Tier 1 before or after quill made the tower? (Since quill removed the first two tiers) he also renamed tier 3 to yet 1, tier 4 to teir 2, and so on!
what reason was there to remove the bottom tiers completely, going as far as to disguise the fact that they were removed by renaming the tiers? doesn't that give players a pretty severe misconception of the overall level quality of the contest?

no because of people like me who recorded the first 2 tiers which were full of joke levels (including memo )

Yeah, why did you decide to omit the bottom two tiers of the contest from the SMBX episode intended to be a compilation of the contest, [whoever made that decision]? I'm given to understand they're still in the download, so it's not an issue of file size. It can't be a SMBX limitation, there were only like 76 levels and it'd take a lot of shenanigans to get to 200 warps or however many it was that was the limit. If it were a concern of not wanting to make the players go through them you could've made them optional like MaGL X did, or put a goal sphere at the end of them in place of the star or something.
I suppose it could be that
Nickname wrote:He disincluded them because they were badand he didn't want to give trolls with joke levels attention.
but that'd be a rather petty reason to not include the entire contest in the compilation episode of the contest, and you're better than that. So what is it?
Why are we even discussing this, this episode was made almost 2 months ago and I doubt Quill is going to add Tiers 1 + 2 back, so this conversation isn't going to change anything.

Probably because everyone didn't want the shitty levels?
No, couldn't be that, to my knowledge this was not a community decision, there was no poll, and even if there were a poll no majority of this community would vote for omitting 1/5 of the levels from CC9 from the compilation episode of all the levels from CC9, that'd be silly. Shit or not they're still levels from CC9, if you want to compile all the levels from CC9 into an episode they're part of the deal. Take the bad with the good and all that.

The goal isn't to get tiers 1 and 2 added back, the goal is to understand why they were omitted in the first place. Reading through this thread Quill never even acknowledged that he had omitted them, much less explained his reasoning behind the decision. The only person to offer an explanation was Nickname, but their explanation would be an extremely petty reason to cut out a fifth of the contest from its compilation episode and I don't know Quill to be the kind of person to do something like that.
RudeGuy07 wrote:Probably because everyone didn't want the shitty levels?
It's a contest.
So? This is an SMBX episode which has the level from the contest except for the first 2 tiers, which nobody wanted.

It was already a decision by Quill, and everyone said they agreed. Nobody gave a valid reason of why the shitty levels should've stay in ToB8, so nothing about this decision was changed. Seems like I can't find it though. And anyway, it's very late to have anything changed in this episode and you can still play the shitty levels in the level editor. Also, why do you really want these joke levels into the tower? It's not like they are worth playing.
Arale wrote:Oh, I don't need them added back. Not all conversations have to have an ultimate goal.
I give up.
What's the problem with this? There's nothing wrong with just talking about something that's happened. There's a weird attitude on some places on the Internet where its like, everything needs to be a movement or plan or something. Naw, I just wanted to talk about how it was bad that they weren't added back - adding them back now would be pointless because it still happened in the past.
I had plans to deconstruct the concept of joke levels in future contests to prove a point through meta-commentary, actually. But it doesn't work if some of them are missing!

If it's the case that the discussion happened at all then fair enough, I suppose. I would've hoped somebody in this community would've realized not compiling all the levels of the contest into the episode goes against the original concept and point of the ToB, but I guess not.
Still though, given that the decision was made somewhere you can't even find Quill probably could've stood to mention it in the OP of the thread, or anywhere else in it for that matter, and it doesn't really answer the question of why Quill decided this was a thing to do in the first place. I mean it's not like it would've done any harm to include them, they could've easily been made optional and from what I've gathered there was already a designated place for them and everything so it wouldn't have even been that much work. Really the decision did more harm than good, inconveniencing those who want to check out the first two tiers and throwing into confusion any discussion about the tiers all for the sake of... what exactly?
Also, why do you really want these joke levels into the tower? It's not like they are worth playing.
That's not your decision to make, that's up to the individual players who download the episode and may or may not want to see the trainwreck of the lower tiers. And I disagree with the decision to omit them on the grounds that, as I've mentioned, I see neither what good their omission did nor what harm their inclusion would've done, but again, I'm not here to get Quill to add them back in, I'm here to get why Quill took them out.
Turtwig wrote:I HAVE A SOLUTION
Stop making joke levels so there won't be any taken out of the tower and then we will all be happy :DDDD
You have to know that's never going to happen, joke levels are an inevitability in level contests. More to the point, you can't use "oh well if you'd quit making joke levels we wouldn't have to take levels out of the ToB" as a defense when not all the levels omitted were joke levels. And even if they were, again, what harm would it have done to put them in and make them optional?
