IDK, i think that i'm thinking so much in Super Smash Bros...

...i mean, the characters use their items of their respective games, or also the character can use items from other games of the characters in the cast list.

Sorry if my explanation don't worked, you can forget this.

Ah, yeah. I catch your drift. My idea was that characters who rely on powerups like that have them as part of their standard loadout. So for instance, Mario would be able to shoot fireballs or bring out his cape without using a powerup. I'm not equipping them with EVERY single powerup, though. Just the ones most practical.

It's not really a 'contest' as much as it is the basis for a story.

Lol, because if you did, he'd be summoning hammers randomly while flying.

Well, since we can nominate three each, what about
2. Dig Dug (or Pooka or Fygar from said game)
3. Pac-Man

I could see they'd each have some decent weapons/attacks of their own.
