Both of those functions require using BBcodes. You can put BBcodes around text to do certain things: [spoiler]text to spoiler[/spoiler] will create a spoiler around that text. Mousing over a BBcode button in the post editor will trigger a tooltip that can help you out.

I tend to find it faster to write the code out itself. I will write it in html as phpbb isnt html compatible. (Remember to always replace < and > with [ and ] for bbcode.) If you'd like to spoiler something, As Joey stated you simply put <spoiler>words here</spoiler>. Same for images, if you are posting images, use <img>image here</img> and most always, post images in spoilers to make the page less laggy, and save space in the post so there isnt so much scrolling.
