Poison Graveyard Hills - By LukasSMBX - Reviewed by Kep
Does this poison hell have enough effort to get put the Best Levels, or just the trashcan? You're about to find out.
Generally...
I start in a graveyard, initially spotting Boos and Podoboos, an extraordinary combo. Finding two bricks including a question block with a mushroom if you're small and a fire flower if you big, I jump to the second ledge and find this yellow, white and green guy who jumps on you and to your advantage you could simply spin jump on it. Then, there goes a slow Dry Bones, who apparently was one of the dead Koopas. I jump on him, and then jump on the three sizables; and then I find you can go over the wall on the right. A little secret I'll tell you is the fact that you should put two extra blocks above the boundaries to have a prevention occur of the player being enabled to go over walls; private message me if you want a screenshot on how to do it if I wasn't specific enough. Anyway, I enter the pipe...
Seeing another graveyard, I still haven't found any technical poison which I certainly hope there is some otherwise I'd take a point away for an invalid level name; nah, but I'd complain a bit. Either way, I start out by going on top of the end of the pipe getting a question block containing a fire flower if you're big, which fortunately I already was. On the other hand, I remain going right, killing enemies in my pathway and see you're forced to go upwards a bit unless you want to get practically murdered by Muchers. I grab some coins there, but forgot to say this about the first section; definitely add some coins there too to make it more lively; it's rather awkward not having any particularly if Mario is greedy as it is. Despite that, I hit a block on the third sizable in section two and find a SMB1 styled poison mushroom; that creates clash with SMB3; if I were you I'd download Legend-Tony's SMB3-styled SMW GFX pack which lies in the Graphics section on this forum I do so recall correctly.
I follow the linear path, and then see poison - finally! I guess the level name fit after all, except it would still be better as Graveyard Hills but obviously it's up to you. Podoboos come flying at you; and the three blocks contain three different clashing poison mushrooms; you know what to do. =P Now I climb the latter downward and see myself in probably the worst section in the entire level; I really think you got lazy. For starters, attempting to act more friendly, I'd
kindly add more background objects, like pink or purple seaweed; ask me for assistance on recoloring if you desire. But also, I noticed you didn't have any coins placed there, and they're mandatory for Mario; or at least according to my perspective. Additionally, as other users said, get the SMB3-styled version of the Fish Bones since it immensely clashes. Otherwise, I see no other flaws in that section instead of the conclusive one; at the very end, if you are big it is impossible to get in that one block opening hole to advance; it's like you're absolutely forced to get hit which I do not support at all.
In the next section, it is extremely short with no coins or question blocks/bricks once again, something you frequently forget about. But I really like the Thwomp-esque bones in the midair, very unique conceptual. I am now in the fifth section though, with the checkpoint that frankly clashes; get the SMB3-style version. Anyway, I spot an egg that is useless which has nothing at all. But, about the boss, for starters, the SMB2-styled bombs should either get the SMB3-styled about-to-blow-up ones in the default editor, or get Legend-Tony's version of it in his graphics pack. The miniature pipe below the bomb generator should be recolored gray using the same palette as the other presented pipes though; it seems peculiar as it is. Otherwise, a Wart-esque boss that's about world eight difficultly, though I was forced to use God Mode, I really enjoyed it so nice job!
Overall...
You've shown me you could do something with SMBX, though I want more. The prodigious amount of flaws gave you a very slim score, I apologize about that though.
