Are Multi-Style Projects still reasonable?

Basically what I mean is... are episodes with levels being mixed from different games together still good with standards and what not? (Ex: an episode like the Invasion 2). I started this just to see what other people think about this.

Yeah. That's the basis of SMBXVille and the Invasion 2.and adventure: vacation plights. Check it out.

I think that episodes that use more than one style are better, actually. It gets tiring after seeing the same style for two worlds. Plus, having multiple styles allows more options for tilesets and you don't have to either reuse or make your own after a while.

It isn't clash as long as it looks good.

I personally find it limits your options if you use only one style. It can be good to find fewer options if you have trouble choosing graphics, but I personally like having a ton of variants. It's mostly about the gameplay anyways.

While I feel like using strictly one style get boring, I feel like episodes like SMSE that use one game's palette but with multiple styles (i.e. SMB1, SMB2, and SMW recolored to SMB3) has a certain charm to it. Might just be me though.

Depends really. I've seen in some episodes where the player starts out as SMB3 styled but when they go into an SMW level, for example, the player suddenly becomes SMW styled. I know they're trying to avoid clash, but having the player suddenly change to SMW style actually is worse than just leaving the SMB3 style and letting it clash if it does, as it ruins the consistency, and it's one reason why an episode designer would remain in SMB3 for the whole time. However, there's more diversity if there are different game styles for each world. There's an SMB1-styled level for TGCA Remake, for example, showing that I'm not just using SMB3.

Similar to above example, it did kinda bother me when SMW levels in SMSE and others suddenly switched the SMB3 leaf in reserve box to SMW.
