It's unfair because good levels don't deserve to lose points and fall 10 or so places below where it should fall.

Valtteri wrote:I don't see how -1 is worse than flat out shutting you out of the contest. And I'm certainly not gonna disqualify levels that don't end with a star for example, that would be stupid.
I'd rather participate in the next contest instead of letting my efforts go to waste.
And if you think disqualification is still too harsh, then just PM a reminder to anyone who breaks the rule. If they'd break it in the next contest, they'd get the disqualification. A much more viable solution than dropping the scores and ruining someone's chances if you ask me.

While I do understand why you want the .lvl file outside the graphics folder, I don't understand why you want the music file out of there aswell. If a level is built around having "\foldername\mp3name.mp3" inside the custom music box, you're basically breaking part of the experience for said level.
I don't know why anyone would do that, except if they want to avoid dupes. So the definitive mp3 name rule already renders the music part about the new rule useless as there won't be dupes anyway. Even if people use the same track, the name will be less or more descriptive, depending on who made the level the music is assigned to.
To anyone complaining about the harshness of the point deduction: I agree in some way. There should be punishment for disobeying the rules, but there should also be a cap to avoid good levels to fall too low for unfair reasons.
We've got a similar system here in school where exams can lose up to 3 out of 15 points for grammatical errors, being messy, etc. Since we have 10 points to reach I suggest we take everything times 2/3 and end up with a cap of 2 points out of 10. The individual point-subtraction-per-rule-disobeyed can be made via judging how strong the violation was and moved from 0.1-1 accordingly, never crossing the cap. There should also be a notice besides each level's review how many points have been subtracted with the reason for it aswell, because then we can make a list of best levels ignoring these meta point reductions.

Guys, if you're having trouble compressing your level files, do this:
1.Select all the files you need in a ZIP/RAR
2.Click "compress and email"
3.Follow instructions and you should be done. You should get two errors doing this, but ignore them, the compression should've worked anyway.

Can't you people just follow the rules for once? I mean this is the 10th contest now and everytime someone didn't listen to the rules so of course Valtteri is enforcing them harder now.

There we go, two more users who fail to understand the definition of criticism.
I respect Valtteri for what he's doing, but that doesn't mean I consider him completely perfect. Of course I'm going to point something out that seems to have a screw missing, and I'm not doing it to make him 'suffer' or anything like that.

Don't get me wrong, i am not a fan of valtteri, but really, if it's a rule, it's not hard to follow it. Plus, if you just choose to remove the rule and let users do that, you're slowing down the judging process because you want to have "freedom".

Maybe they don't think I'm perfect, maybe they just don't think there's anything wrong with the rule.

I can understand why Valtteri made this rule as people has been putting their lvl. files and the mp3. files inside the folder past 3 contests when he has even mentioned in the main thread you're not suppose to do it.

I'm pretty sure you will get into Top 10 again. Heck I can even imagine you getting into Top 5.

Before talking about something, you should inform yourself adequately or you'll make yourself look like an idiot.

Your reasoning behind opposing the new rule is stupid because everyone will still get to see the scores the judges gave you, and the average without the punishment minuses. The punishment only affects your final placement and it's perfectly reasonable as it's entirely your fault if you decide not to read the rules.

What? If you mean me I was talking about the people who can't follow the rules not the criticism
