So it's been a while since I posted a level, especially a level that's actually a serious level, as opposed to my holiday series (which may get a new entry soon!!) and I thought the Vinesauce contest was a good opportunity to change that. So here is my newest piece of trash: ~~Princess Cherry's Courtyard~~

Playthrough:

Old version - ZeldaMaster12

YoshiGo99 - bamboo BGOs and blocks
Sednaiur - cherry petals (SMW recolor by me)

Very fun level! I love the design overall. Gameplay is solid, and I like the idea of the bamboo. However, I did notice something. The second tunnel after the midway point, you can actually jump over it, skipping that entire area. You should probably go back and fix that. Otherwise, it's great!

Thanks for pointing that out lol, I didn't even notice you could do that. I fixed it now.

You forgot to SMW recolor the lighthouse by the pink Goomba. But I think the recolors are cool and hope you release them in your GFX pack.

The background is also SMB3 palette. Whatever will I do about it. :)) (The level is not supposed to be completely SMW and I can't be bothered to change that because I think it looks fine as it is)

This level looks nice, the GFX was great, I like the bamboo scenery. Looks like cherry blossom....
may I use your CGFX? Your CGFX looks very beautiful (especially the pink bubble and the big tree)

Sure, make sure to give credit though, the tree was originally made by Squishy Rex, so make sure to give credit to him too

Princess Cherry's Coutyard by Marina - Review

Looks and Atmosphere

This is a quite good-looking level. I really liked this cherry blossom style you went with, and although I'm not sure on the pink enemies, it still fit together quite well. Something I really liked were the falling leaves, people should do stuff like that more often and it really fit! Aside from that there wasn't much special, although I liked the graphical contrast between the grassy areas and the inside areas.

7/10

Deisgn and Gameplay (counts double)

This level was quite linear, but had solid gameplay. The combination of classic Mario enemies and Zelda II enemies was something interesting, but it worked fairly well. The bamboo branch platforming was quite precise, but in my opinion it went on for just long enough to not get tedious. The buried coins were a little strange at first, but since they shield you from enemies it also brings in some strategy.
One thing I didn't like was how you could just walk over a part of the level without any consequences, especially since it wasn't even hidden or anything. The moon as a collectable was maybe a bit too easy to get for granting you 3 lives, I would've preferred it if something else was there that wouldn't be worth so much.
I also liked the little idea with you having to defeat all the enemies at one point, it wasn't anything major but still kinda cool. In the end, it was decent platforming though.

7.5/10

Verdict

A really solid and simple platforming with decent design and some interesting small ideas. The graphics looked fairly good, and there were rarely any major flaws, although it doesn't do anything big either.

7.33/10
