Princess Cherry's Coutyard by Marina - Review
Looks and Atmosphere
This is a quite good-looking level. I really liked this cherry blossom style you went with, and although I'm not sure on the pink enemies, it still fit together quite well. Something I really liked were the falling leaves, people should do stuff like that more often and it really fit! Aside from that there wasn't much special, although I liked the graphical contrast between the grassy areas and the inside areas.
7/10
Deisgn and Gameplay (counts double)
This level was quite linear, but had solid gameplay. The combination of classic Mario enemies and Zelda II enemies was something interesting, but it worked fairly well. The bamboo branch platforming was quite precise, but in my opinion it went on for just long enough to not get tedious. The buried coins were a little strange at first, but since they shield you from enemies it also brings in some strategy.
One thing I didn't like was how you could just walk over a part of the level without any consequences, especially since it wasn't even hidden or anything. The moon as a collectable was maybe a bit too easy to get for granting you 3 lives, I would've preferred it if something else was there that wouldn't be worth so much.
I also liked the little idea with you having to defeat all the enemies at one point, it wasn't anything major but still kinda cool. In the end, it was decent platforming though.
7.5/10
Verdict
A really solid and simple platforming with decent design and some interesting small ideas. The graphics looked fairly good, and there were rarely any major flaws, although it doesn't do anything big either.
7.33/10
