SMBX getting screwy

Postby Firespike33 » Sun Feb 02, 2014 2:20 pm

Whenever I open another window like my browser or a folder, SMBX gets quirky when I make it the active window again. It might lock up some times--either instantly or when I try to save or load--or other times it will constantly make hundreds of blank files when I attempt to take a screenshot (and yes, I added my own "screenshots" folder). But until I open something else (forcing the SMBX window to become inactive) everything works smoothly. I'm playing 1.3.0.1 but this also has happened to me on 1.3.

Info about my computer (if more is needed, I can try to find it):
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Processor: AMD A10-5900K with Radeon HD Graphics 3.80 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB

Does SMBX have a problem with Windows 7? I seem to remember something about that, but I'm not sure.

I use SMBX on Windows 7 just fine, so I don't think that's the problem. I don't know how to help you, though.

Try to scan your computer for malware. I doubt it's a problem with SMBX. It might be your Operating System having problems because of a virus. Alternatively, try to install ffdshow codecs or reinstall it. Make sure your game isn't corrupted and try reinstalling the game if the things aforementioned don't work.

Exactly which part of SMBX are you talking about? The actual game itself or the level editor? What I find I have to do sometimes (and my computer is clean and free of malware) is press alt-enter to toggle the game in and out of fullscreen and that usually fixes itself in the main game. As for anything with the level editor, I'm unsure

I installed ffdshow, and that fixed everything. Thanks. This can be locked.
