Has anybody been keeping up with Baltimore? There's a curfew tonight starting at 10pm and lasting until 5am. It's the same situation as Ferguson except bigger and dumber. There were some peaceful protests, but last night riots got out of control to the point they were cutting fire fighter's hoses and throwing bottles at them and police. One officer had a shattered knee-cap, among others who who were injured. Eventually the National Guard got called in, and additional 5,000 officers were requested later on last night.
Jesus, that sounds like a real-life version of "The Purge" almost, or at least the curfew side of it anyway. I'm really beginning to wonder what this world is coming to.

Okay, so, we had riots like this in Ferguson, we've had them in New York, we've had them in LA, what makes the ones in Baltimore any different save for the fact that gangs are getting involved? All of the riots are just the same and all for the same reason, it's not really anything to be all surprised about seeing as all of them are the same. It's seriously just the media trying to manipulate and inject fear into people to cause mass hysteria. It can be summed up extremely well by this video.

They called it "The Purge" in Ferguson during those riots, and yesterday at 3pm there was some purge announced when shit would hit the fan. There were also reports of rival gangs teaming up to kill a police officer last night, so it's exactly what it sounds like.

My favorite part was where some woman saw her son, slapped him, and forced him to go home.

Yeah, that was great. There was also a kid passing out water to the officer lines, and a chain of people protecting them from the rioters. Just goes to show everyone out there isn't all bad, despite how crazy it is.

These riots are more intense. Buildings and houses were burned down, and a mall was looted.
What annoys me is how people can say that they're committing these crimes FOR the person that was killed...it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the person that was killed would just want peace!

The same thing happened in Ferguson. The family is saying that the protests should stop, just like Mike Brown's family did. I would also say you can't speak for the dead, but this guy who died wasn't exactly a model citizen if you look at his history. Everything being done as of now is just to abuse. I mean, why would you set fire to businesses that had nothing to do with anything then cut the hoses of fire fighters who also had nothing to do with the situation? Part of a church was burned down that was supposed to help the elderly, y'know for all that socio-economic whining they're going on about when they're justifying themselves being out on the streets. Even the people who are going after the police are without excuse because bottles are being thrown, and like I said an officer's knee was shattered, and this is a response that is supposed to shown that abuse is wrong?

Its basically assholes taking advantage of a situation. Very few of the original protesters wanted to burn houses and pillage and harm people.

A person with common sense. Finally, thank you!!

Tbh if I was the mother I would've done the same, seeing what police are already doing to the peaceful protesters. She was probably scared for his life.

I agree that this is what the protests snowballs into, but there is one thing to keep in mind. Those assholes are taking advantage of the situation because, otherwise, they wouldn't lift a finger. It's not like the problem can be downplayed, it's that the consequences for the problem is, conversely, very simple. That's what gets talked about and that's what keeps the overarching problem out of the public eye. Getting problems solved is maddeningly frustrating to do, even on a local level, precisely for this reason.

So you see the racial violence and brutality as a movie.
Okay.

I think he was comparing it to what you see in movies, not saying he saw it as a movie.

Or hell just spit-balling here, maybe he could have gotten burned by one of the many fires set off, or hit by one of the rocks thrown at the police, gotten mixed up with one of the gangs that were out there, or she had the sense to not let her idiot sun trash the city.

Yeah, that's how I read it too.
It does have all of the plot points of a movie though. An incompetent mayor who lets people destroy a city in a racially divided America, and officers are prosecuted on political grounds to keep crowds under control. Sounds like something that someone could make a movie out of.

Oh please, have you forgotten these things have been happening since the dawn of civilization, and were even worse?

It was worded in the worst way possible though. Like, I agree this is ridiculous to the point that it is an action movie script and it's gonna be playing NATIONWIDE at this rate, but it definitely came off as "YEAH IT'S LIKE THE MOVIES I LOVE VIOLENCE".

You are the idiot sun in my life. A hit new love song.
Definitely made the right call in sending her child home.

I would not be surprised if they did that though, this whole riot thing is just really sad and stupid.

Nothing says protesting police brutality like cutting fire fighter's hoses. Complaining about oppression is second nature to these people, that's what they say to the news cameras rolling. When it's just livestreamers, they have smiles on their face while they're trashing a police cruiser almost like they're taking advantage of an opportunity to engage in chaos and don't give a fuck about race or police brutality. These people aren't oppressed, discriminated against, or whatever the fuck they're going on about now. Who is really going to say they're out to have fun? That'd be too honest. Look at these victims of oppression and see if I'm full of shit or not:
The victims are the business owners who were looted and burned, and the owner's of the stolen cars that were paraded around and burned. They had absolutely nothing to do with anything, but the first thing these thugs did was go after them. The same thing happened in Ferguson, but all we remember about that was a race issue and the business owners were forgotten. These thugs get all the attention from the media, meanwhile people like this in Ferguson are robbed of any sort of spotlight so that a few unseen and unheard of peaceful protesters might be recognized. Remember these faces rather than the ones above for Ferguson and Baltimore:
