Are you still using SMBX?

Postby bossedit8 » Sat Apr 25, 2015 6:45 am

Are you still using Super Mario Brothers X? That's basically the entire question right here. It doesn't matter if it's either at the main game or in the level editor mode but it's mostly preferred to the main game if you still play anything or not.

I personally still use SMBX till the day as you can notice a lot on my video collections and still use the level editor mode until the better editor and engines will come out.

Hmmm...
I admittedly have kinda lost interest in SMBX, and moved on to the Geometry Dash level editor (2.0 HYPE!!!!!)

I still love these forums, though!

I don't play the main game, but if the episode is has Luigi/Peach playable, I totally do.
I mainly use the editor.

No, because it doesn't work for me (I can launch it only at my laptop).
To edit levels I use PGE, because SMBX is shit, compared to PGE.

I'm still using the SMBX editor, but I also play the main game whenever I feel like doing so. I also use PGE when I'm going to make a level with custom graphics that are bigger or smaller than its original. And I'm also using a laptop, so sometimes it runs nicely, but sometimes it lags.

Aww really? That's a shame. Hope to get back to it adventuly but good luck on a different editor by the way.

For making meaningless posts? Cool.

"Sometimes"... hopefully for playing SMBX Episodes.

You probably should try every characters and not only those two. Just my suggestion. It's your choice anyway.

That's a shame, hopefully you can play SMBX in the future though.

How dare you call SMBX's editor bad! It's limited, sure but don't call it horrible just for limitation functionality that isn't even in the regular SMBX editor!

Ah I can understand that.

Yes, but often for editing since new PGE inventions made my day great.

Level Editor: No, only for setting up Events and testing levels/events. There seems to be discrepancies when setting up events in PGE and getting them to work in SMBX. They don't always seem to work for some reason.

Main Game: Until recently no, but with the release of Mario Prime and KFCMario's two episodes I've been using it again.

Overall though, if it weren't for Utopia and my remake project, I'd probably be not using SMBX at all anymore. I expect once PGE and VSMBX start to become more complete I'll start to really get back into the whole creation stage again.

And that's why it's bad.

It's his opinion on it. I don't whats wrong about saying that. Not everyone here has the same mind and opinion like you.

Did you even try pge out? Or not just bc the engine isn't done?
Smbx is a dead game, both vsmbx and pge will have new stuff

Yes. Both editor and the main game. But I use PGE almost as much as regular SMBX editor. When VSMBX and PGE full versions will come out, SMBX will have a mega death. (in April/May 2016 maybe, 1 year from now)

semi off topic: If smbx is dead, then 'levels' 'episodes' and 'project' forums wouldn't have more threads than 100 (all together) and NGCA wouldn't exist, too.

SMBX is dead because it stopped its development and was never finished. Lots of people still use it, though.

No. I only sometimes play episodes, and it is getting boring with making levels when it's the same stuff you use over and over again. All the LunaDLL stuff is harder to use than the regular SMBX stuff.

I still use SMBX, but as a Level Judge, I practically only use the Level Editor mode because that's how I play (and afterward, judge) stand-alone levels. I'd like to use the Main Game at some point in the future (since there are quite a few featured episodes I'm yet to play, like Legend of Mario), but it seems like there are always new levels being released, and if I don't do my job and judge the levels, I'll probably lose my position.

Hardly, because it doesn't have the enemy and object variety I need for my vision of a fangame.

I am going to have to ask you how PGE is objectively better than SMBX?

PGE has a lot more posibilities, better interface, copy-paste tool and a lot more. Also it doesn't crashes for no reason, unlike SMBX.

I still do, but I play levels a lot more than I used to and make/edit levels at lot less than I used to.

I generally use the editor way more than play the main game. The main game I still play here and there though.
