put actual descriptions to the featured episodes

its been like

"This episode by KFC mario uses some very interesting graphics"

"(i forget who) has done it again, this episode features a lot of smb1 graphics"

current one: "bossedit8 has released an episode that uses more normal and subdued graphics"

do u see where im getting at

The descriptions seem rather half-assed.

Why do we even need feature things anyway though. Everything has to be about popularity?

IMO, the owner of whatever's getting featured should get a PM from Joey where the owner gets to write a description of what's featured. I think. Also I would have sorta preferred that the NPC screenshot were used, but whatever it's not a big deal. It would also be really cool if I could correctly scale it to 1x1 instead of some blurry thumbnail.

Users can PM me if they want their own descriptions for featured stuff. I know I've never said that before but I don't have a problem with it.

I also led a poll a while ago, 8bit, asking if people wanted to keep or get rid of the featured content. The vast majority that voted wanted to keep it.

I'm, like, 99% sure that those descriptions accurately represent why those episodes are featured. Remember The Great Empire 3 and LFFTMK 1.0? Episodes obviously aren't featured because of quality (or even competent) level design.

I agree with Nien, it seems like you're talking about the user more than the episode/GFX itself.

FWIW I think that "don't judge by the screenshots" is a rule. Erm...

Could we make it a rule that Joey has to download and play the first 10 or so levels of an episode before featuring it?

ok that's a dumb ass rule, joey shouldnt have to suffer through that.

i feel like people should just submit their own descriptions or something, doesnt necessarily need to be the designer.

You're right; Joey should have to play the entire episode before featuring it.

I am legitimately unsure if you guys are being serious with those rules or not, because i wouldn't like to pLAY AN ENTIRE SMBX EPISODE to put it in a fucking orange box, that's not his job as an admin.

like i said, all joey needs to do is take descriptions from the designer/other players and put those up, which has been allowed but not announced.

We could also do something else with that orange box.

But what I meant was, instead of flooding each forum with a list like so ^, Joey could, and key word is COULD, put a scrolling news banner, or a page-based news banner with links to said topics.

that's actually a pretty cool idea. reminds me of those little news updates in super mario sunshine, for some reason.
