Alright, so here's my problem: I'm trying to use the lava theme from NSMBW, and I know I've entered the filename in perfectly (I know this because I copied the title and then pasted it), but the music seems to be completely silent. I've checked my laptop's volume and the normal music in the game works fine, so I don't know the problem. I also tried using the same music from NSMB2, but with no luck. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, because I did it the exact same way I did all other custom music in my project. This would be an awesome theme for my level, please help!

You gotta add the extension file type at the end of the custom music field. So if it was a MP3 it would be "songtheme.mp3";
WAV: "songtheme.wav"
WMA: "songtheme.wma"
Etcetera

Nope, I most definitely put .mp3 in as well. It's in the folder too, so it's not that.

Don't know if it'll work, but what about re-convert your music file to an mp3 one?

The file definitely says .mp3. I'm extremely confused right now.

Hmm, last idea. Is your song and level file in the same folder? If not, place both in the same folder then see if the song works.

Yeah. I tried putting it in the folders you'd generally use for custom graphics and stuff too, but with no luck. I'm starting to think SMBX just can't handle certain tracks.
Although, I will say that whenever I open the folder for my episode, you actually can't see the .lvl files (they're there, they just don't show up when you look at the folder). I doubt this has anything to do with it though.

Is it in the folder with the level files, or the folder used for custom gfx?

I already asked that question, dagget10.
And can't see the level files huh? I recall someone having that problem before, no idea how to fix that or if that affects your ability to use the song. Uh.. send me the song I guess and I'll see if it works for me. If it does then I ASSUME your music issue is because your level files are hidden.

It's weird because all of my other custom musics work fine (so I doubt it's the level files), just this one particular track has some problem. I checked the music file just in case it had the problem, and I could hear the music just fine. I also redownloaded it a few times, but nope.
Perhaps SMBX just has problems with NSMBWii/NSMB2 music, because I tried using their snow level theme for another level and it didn't work either.

Huh that's weird, so it isn't just you who's having this problem then as it's not working for me too. I tried removing what I thought would be considered illegal characters in the songs name but nothing.
I really have no idea what the issue is, I would just try downloading the song from a different site really, or youtube because I can't think of any other reasons why that specific download doesn't work, and I don't see why NSMBWii/NSMB2 music in general wouldn't work especially since I've seen music from those games used in levels.

Sometimes this happens because the file size of the mp3, wav, etc is too big. Most files play immediately, however, some larger files may take a few seconds to begin playing, others like your problematic track refuse to play at all. If the track loops the theme a few times before ending like most do, you can usually edit the track and remove one or more of the loops to reduce the file size. Doing so generally works every time.

Thanks guys. I fixed it now. I used a youtube-to-mp3 converter to do it.

No it doesn't have any problems. Try getting it from another site. Sometimes smbx doesn't play custom music you download. Happens sometimes from youtube downloaded ones.

SOLVED IT! All you have to do is put the music in the folder with the level folders in it. I had this exact same problem, but then I solved it! Try it out!
EDIT: I just realized that this post was made in 2013, oops...

What's the music size? The original NSMBWii was on a disc which could hold a lot, so maybe the size is an issue.
