My tips for creating Custom Sprites

Hey guys, NintendoOtaku93 here. And this time, I'm going to give you guys some tips on making your own custom sprite sheets! And I know some of you already know those tips, so I'll explain them anyways ^.^').
Using Color Palettes: Either use Google, Yahoo, or Bing search to look for the right color palette to use for your custom sprites (I use the NES, SNES I think, Genesis, Game Gear, and Game Boy color palettes) or create your own custom color palette from scratch.
Use some references: If you end up having creative block on making sprites from scratch, feel free to look at other sprites from other games to get some inspiration.
Sprite Tracing: If you are making an sprite in a different design of an video game character, try tracing some of the original sprite design (only a bit, not too much), it'll look original. (I used sprite tracing when I was working on my custom "Super Mario Land 2" Luigi sprites) I recommend you get two or 3 sprites of the same character (but from different games) if you wanna use sprite tracing.
Recolors: It's up to you if you wanna use recolors. I never use recolors when making my sprite sheets.
Sizes of the character sprite: Well, take 2 different sprites of the same character, and average out the size of both sprites. Trust me, the new sprite size will sometimes be the fitting size, but at least try.
That's my tips, enjoy and have fun making your own custom sprites! ^.^')
