Hey there SMBX community! I'm here today to challenge all of you to a small competition. Now unlike other competitions/contests, this competition has a few set rules that set it apart. First off, in no way are any levels to contain custom graphics, music, or NPCs. This is a challenge to see how many of you can make a good level without the use of custom...anything! All levels must be Vanilla Mario (in other words, whatever SMBX has to offer to you in the editor.) Also, each challenge has a theme to it, whether it be only SMB1 content, anything underwater, castles, etc. Now, since this is the first challenge, the theme will be simple. Make a SMB3 level. It can be anything SMB3, whether it be a sky level, underground, castle. This means that you cannot use anything from SMB1, SMB2, SMW, or Misc/Etc. Now to dwindle things down to an easier to read format. The prize, by vote, is Terraria!

Rules! :
• Level must NOT contain any custom materials! (NPCs, Graphics, Music, etc.)
• Layers and Events are allowed!
• The theme MUST be SMB3. No exceptions!
• Level exit can be SMB3 Roulette, Dungeon Exit ( ? ball ), or Star.
• No Checkpoints.
• Do NOT submit your level publicly, whether it is the actual level or any screenshots. Doing so is immediate disqualification!

Send me a PM if you wish to enter. Any posts in this topic to enter will be ignored.

Want to help Judge? :
If you want to help judge a level, just send me a PM with a review of a level you have judged already. If it's good enough, you may judge this competition.

Prize :A copy of Terraria!

Level Due Date : February 28th

Level Judging Date : March 1st

Judging Criteria :
• 5 Points for Design
• 5 Points for Creativity
• 5 Points for NPC Placement / Use of NPCs
• 5 Points for Fun factor.

All in All, this is out of 20 Points.

You should probably point out that one of the tiles in the SMB3 Misc. section of the Blocks and Tiles folder is from SMB2. Valtteri knows what I'm talking about

Nice contest idea, I freaking love vanilla levels. I may or may not end up being not lazy enough to submit a level for this.

Do the music has to be smb3 too?

EDIT : I have figured out an appropriate prize for this contest. I will not reveal it until there are enough participants for this competition. Just a hint though, it IS a game, and it IS on Steam.

Well I finished, it took about three hours. I'm very satisfied of what it became and hope to see more competition even though I know I will win.

Level Submission deadline set to February 10th.

I'll join in, since it's literally just SMB3 level, it should be relatively easy to make a level. I'll get started on it immediately after I slack for a bit.

I put up a poll for the prize for the winner. Please vote on which game should be the prize.

I voted for Terraria. I've got to get around to playing it at some point.
