The Thwomp Kingdom: ON A LONGER DELAY
Posted: Tue Feb 17, 2015 12:13 pm
by The Thwomp King
Hey so maybe a few of you heard of this episode a good few years back, and it's been slow progression considering I've taken some long breaks from smbx, but I want to still try to get the job done, and I would appreciate any help I can get to make this a successful episode. If anyone is willing to help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. I have a lot of great ideas for this huge episode and I probably won't be able to complete it alone. Thank you so much!
UPDATE: Considering I began this project nearly four or five years ago when I was much more inexperienced at all of this (not that I'm too much better still :p) and haven't made too much progress due to me being on and off with activity (considering I was a member during the time the Knux forums were the dominate forums and right when redigit had to shut down SMBX because of Nintendo, and I've seen much has changed here and there), I'm highly considering restarting my episode with only my quality levels I produced from The Thwomp Kingdom episode returning to jumpstart progress
on it with a better story, use of stars, world map (which I went overkill on XD hahaha), etc.
If I were to do this, would anyone be of assistance there?

You need to post screenshots of your project when you make a thread about it. Please contact a staff member with screenshots if you want this topic unlocked.

Screenshots provided via request. Topic unlocked.
So far, it looks very nice and I do like the project so far... even know that there are some graphics missing and background objects that are lacky but oh well. It is on a work in progress kind of deal so yeah. Hope to see more of this.

Some advice...
Screenshot 1: The wood tileset doesn't work with that background
Screenshot 2: This looks really bad, don't mix so many tilesets like that
Screenshot 3: That tileset and that background don't work together.
Screenshot 4: This one looks pretty good, no complaints.

Thank you guys for the advice, and yes I'm not the best with working with graphics so I could use help with finding things that look best with others. I'll take as much help as possible.

You should also use Paint.Net when making GFX because if you use MSpaint and save the file as a .gif, the picture gets grainy. 1x1 pixels are not desirable in any way. They make the rest of us look bad.

Yeah those are old graphics before I knew about Paint.net, I've just never changed them within the past couple years XP Haven't had the chance to really. Thanks though!
I'll add some new screenshots too with some newer levels I've been working on. Hopefully I can rework my older material to make it more enjoyable in the first two worlds.
And I have posted a few newer screenshots, of course I'm still working on reworking some stuff while enjoying making new levels for the episode.

There is a cutoff in the 1st screenshot.
Now your level design has been increased. Good Job!

Yep I forgot to get rid of that screenshot since it's mad old. And thank you! If I can motivate myself to at least redo a couple more world 1 levels and world 2 for that matter too, then I can focus more on the new stuff I have yet to start in my project.

I missed your vertical contest. Oh well...
To make up for it, I would like to help do a few levels. I'm good design, and I can show a pm to help show what I can do. I can't do much, but any levels I can do for you, I can have for me in my super-project. Only thing I have is a request.

Okay so I have decided that it will be best to hold this back as something special I'd like to do in the future as my kinda final episode instead. The project won't be given up on, but I will be more effective working on smaller projects first before this one comes. I appreciate everyone's support and I'll see you guys very soon with a future episode idea I have in mind.
