For those who don't know, fan fiction is creative writing by one user based on an already existing franchise (such as the Super Mario series). It's basically your own take on the universe. Roleplays (RPs) are very similar, except they have one notable difference: more than one author helps create the story. While the creator of a roleplay may lay out the basis of the story and create events for it, the people who join will help shape it and make it something enjoyable for everyone.
As this is only the start of the new forum, there are going to be a few restrictions in place. However, these only apply to roleplays; you are welcome to start posting your fan fiction as long as it follows the rules.
Only one roleplay will be able at the start. This roleplay will take place in the Super Mario universe ("Marioverse"). We will open up the ability to have your own roleplay available on the forum once we have finished our first RP. Roleplay ideas will be posted in the RP Approval Thread; feel free to start posting your ideas right now, but note that we will not start approving any roleplay ideas until the first RP is finished.
General rules
- Proper English is required for this forum. Sometimes, the staff is lax about this rule in other boards, but it is necessary for storytelling here.
- No script writing. Script writing is writing your story like a script, which makes your writing look much more lazy and unprofessional. An example of script writing is this:

Joey: quack
DarkMatt: I hate everyone"Hi," Valtteri said. "I love Elsa."

"I hate everyone." DarkMatt shouted. - As per the main forum rules, mature (18+) content is not allowed.
- Users are only allowed to host one roleplay at a time.
- Keep out-of-character (OOC) discussion to a minimum in game threads. If you need to speak out-of-character, use "OOC:" before you speak and/or put it into parentheses. Discussion that spans more than a single line is better off in the RPG discussion thread.
- You are only allowed to control your character and how that character interacts with the story. The general storyline is up to the game host, who may ask the Game Masters to revoke any post at any time.
- RPs may only take place in the "Nintendoverse", meaning characters/stories must be themed around Nintendo franchises. Use topic icons (found in the post editor) to let users know what franchise your RP/story is about. Note: Only a select few are available at first, more options will become available further down the line.
- The creator of a roleplay can request their roleplay be closed at any time, but deletion of RP threads will be left to the forum staff as RPs contain writing by several authors.
- Have links to all of the chapters in the main post so it's easier for people to find a certain chapter.
- Keep your chapters fairly lengthy. Short chapters are not enjoyable. A recommendation is to have each chapter at least 1000 words.
- Please use proper spacing between paragraphs so that your posts are easily readable.
- If your story involves a franchise that has a topic icon, please use it. Otherwise, no topic icon is required.
- Fan fiction may be of any genre or franchise/universe as long as it applies to the "no mature content" rule.
- Creative writing that isn't fan fiction is still permitted in this forum.
