Under the Sea

Postby Man1234FK » Sun Feb 08, 2015 10:41 am

So this is another level for Turtwig's Mushroom Kingdom Diametric episode, and also my second underwater level ever! I'm not that proud of this one, the level doesn't really have anything special, but i think it's a cool SMB1 water level.

!! Updates !!
-Made the level look nicer :)
-Gave bonusrooms some power ups
-Fixed glitches

Thanks to Turtwig and Bossedit8 for reviewing the level, much appreciated!

Tomorrow came a lot sooner than expected ^_^
Anyway...

UNOFFICIAL REVIEW of UNDER THE SEA by MAN1234FK

A fairly straightforward underwater level.

Design (6/10)
Like I said, this is a fairly straightforward underwater level. Not that the design was bad, but there was nothing really mindblowing going on here. It was a nice and easy level, just swimming along and collecting Dragon Coins. Speaking of Dragon Coins, they were actually very well placed, so good job there.

Atmosphere (4/10)
Now, this might just be personal taste, but the way you used the green underwater blocks in this level looked pretty bad to me. All of the other SMB1 recolored graphics looked nice, though.

Other Comments:
Spoiler: show
THE WATER BLOCKS ARE ALWAYS GREENER
RIGHT HERE ON THE OCEAN LAKE
YOU DREAM ABOUT ADDING MORE OF THEM
BUT THAT IS A BIG MISTAKE
YOU SEE, THEY LOOK PRETTY BAD
MAYBE IT'S JUST MY OWN TASTE
STILL YOU SHOULD DELETE SOME QUICKLY
PLEASE DO IT NOW AND MAKE HASTE

OHHH

UNDER THE SEAAAA
UNDER THE SEAAAAAAA

ALL OF THESE GRAPHICS ARE REALLY REALLY AWESOME TO MEEEE

UP ON THE FORUMS I REVIEW
AND I REVIEW JUST FOR YOU

THIS LEVEL WILL GO
IN MY EPISODE SO

UNDER THE SEAAAAA
This song took me 10 minutes to parody. Pls like it ;-;

Overall 5/10 (Average)
A decent level that will fit into my episode well! Good job!

Oh man did you actually use the music--awww you're actually making something serious. Oh well, looks really really nice with the green blocks. As for those spike replacements, eh. Those don't look too much like spikes to me, but I forgive you for using them since it looks like you uh... SPIKED the difficulty just right?

Anyone?

Those spikes definitely give much needed difficulty to water levels, so I'll be appreciative of that and just see myself out now.

I don't think that was a compliment.

Anyway, I'm gonna review this tomorrow. I swear, every time I don't make a post like this, someone else does it when I'm away.

It was though so I mean yeah.

I'm just not a big fan of water levels so for the sake of my sanity I'd rather not review any further.

And this is why a lot of water levels are underrated. So fun (read: interesting) to design, so tedious to play. I can't agree more.

I mean this is pretty much nothing compared to my last water level, but i decided to try and make a SMB1 themed level and i'm still pretty happy with the result :D

Yeah it's kinda sad also that they are so underrated. You rarely see any water levels posted here :D

I swear ever since the SMB1 underwater levels were created, nobody has made another one since.
