Hey! This is my first released project, The Search for the Stars! I worked on this project for about a month, and now I'm finally finished with the project. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it!
There is custom world map music, so be sure to create a reserve folder for the originals.
UPDATE 4/30/14: Thanks guys! Because of you, Search for the Stars has reached 100 downloads! Maybe not a big accomplishment for too many level designers, but this being my first project, I'm very excited!
UPDATE 8/8/14: Patched a glitch where if you select the block on the right in the W3 Toad House, the door doesn't appear.

So thank you for downloading, and I hope you enjoy. Credits are within.

I'll give it a download and tell you what I think. It is nice to see that you are making levels that do not have clashing GFX. The custom GFX choices seem to complement each level. Though from the screenshots I would try adding a few more enemies, BGOs etc as they seem a little empty. The cave level looks to have a nice gimmick with the conveyor belts which is something you can really build on in later worlds.
(I'll send you a PM with my review)

I appreciate that! I'll probably expand the cave level, I only did a certain segment of the level with conveyer belts.

Well I finished it, I will write up the review for you today. I must say though, generally people usually have tons of clash and cut-off in their earlier projects and it's good to see your project has none of that at all. Your project so far has a great use of basic events and layers and I've seen things that could be greatly enhanced later on like the conveyor belt cave for example. But as I said I'll write up the review on each level and World Map and try to get it to you ASAP.

I'd suggest you take screenshots by pressing the F12 key (and reduce their size to 50% if possible), so they'd be smaller and easier to load.
Now, about the screenshots, I only have complaints about the world map, which looks a bit bland. The islands are just large squares, and scenery is just the same type of scenery here and there. I suggest you take inspiration from SMB3 maps if you're going to keep them in SMB3 style, and draw some sketches on paper before making the map in SMBX.

For the record, I am taking the screenshots with F12. Should I do it in the level editor instead?
And I will definitely try hard on my world maps. I'm trying to get inspiration from other games/projects.

Are you playing on full screen?

Yes, I play on fullscreen.

Take screenshots in windowed mode if that doesn't bother you, they'll end up cleaner and you can reduce their size to 50% on Paint.net to make them smaller. It will be easier to load for people with slow connections like me.

Ok. I'll start doing that instead.
Did you decide to download the demo?

I might play it, but my SMBX is full of dust and spider webs

I'm downloading it right now. I don't know what to say about it yet, but I think it is pretty cool. It will definitely keep me busy on my break.

I recommend MediaFire because it doesn't delete the links after a month like Sendspace

Neither of them are good. Dropbox saves the files unless the uploader decides to delete it.
