Basically I'm saying that banned users should be able to see their pm's when banned. Or at least see all of their warnings. For example, if you get permabanned, you'll never be able to know what the last warning was. And it's kinda annoying not knowing what you got banned for.

We'd have to unban them for them to be able to see their PMs.

I support these reasons. I'd also support banned users being able to PM other users (ex for group projects).

Users are banned for a reason, they should have little to no privleage to do anything forum related since they ruined their chances; implying these users are permabanned for that matter. If a user is temp banned, they can wait.

Screw me if I'm wrong, but I don't think phpBB can ban someone and have them be able to access the site. There is no "read only" function, or, if there were, the user would not be "banned," technically.

Banned means you are completely disconnected from the site. By performing the bannable offense, the user is suspending his privilege to use the site, including reading PMs and warnings.

Does it make it difficult/impossible to contact a user if he is banned? Of course, but to make that easier would require an entire reworking of the banning system, which I doubt anyone has the stomach for.

If it's a temporary ban then they can wait until they're unbanned to see the warning they were issued.

In the case of permanent bans (and temporary bans too, really), the reason for banning is a culmination of a bunch of different things. It's not like users a permanently banned for one thing and all of the other warnings they got don't matter. The displayed ban reason is more likely, I think, to summarize the offenses in the case of a permanent ban.

There is no problem since if you simply broke a rule, it's basically your fault for not following them. If you are temporarily banned from this place you only need to wait out for specific Days that the Ban has been set via the set rules of Board Warnings you got over the past 3 months.

Oh I guess it wouldn't be possible to see your pm's when you're banned. I kinda meant this on permabans since you'll never know what you got banned for...

That's why we have ban reasons that show up when you're banned.

Not at all. If they get banned, they can wait it out. There's a ban reason displayed as well.

Your reason why you are banned for no reason is that you reached the second warning limit and then you will get banned for one day long. Here is what I am talking about.

While your are banned, the reason only stated as "2 Warnings" though.

I agree with reghrhre to be honest.

If you're banned here, then you're banned. And that means no access to your account, period. PMs are a part of your account, so when you lose your privilege to be on the forums, you also lose the ability to see your PMs.

Even then, can't the person just contact the banned user somewhere else other than the forums?

If they have any other social websites or anything has in contact then yes. This also counts maybe at the chatroom but not that entirely since not everyone joins over there especially newer Members.

While being banned you only see the banned Message, not the warnings until you are being unbanned again.

I'm pretty sure that almost everyone here is a part of other online communities.

When ur banned, u can see the reason why when you go to the forums. so no need.

Only this one and nsmbx. Others are either just plain stupid made ones or died ones.

Also i don't see the point in this tbh. There are other ways to talk with banned people. RVLution has this but it's not an good idea.

Well, then again not everyone wants to sign up for other forums.
