IRC Problems

So I need some help with IRC. For the past 2(?) weeks, my IRC client just stops responding after barely 30 seconds of use. I use HexChat 2.10.2 and I haven't had any problems with it until just recently, I'm not sure what could be causing the crashes.

I tried getting back on the IRC to ask for help but I was banned, probably after my failed attempts at trying to get HexChat working again (Renaporn loads up extremely fast!). My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, with an AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor at 3GHz. I have 16GB of RAM and my OS is 64-bit.

I figured I'd ask this here since most of you (or at least the people on IRC) seem tech-savvy, and while I am myself, I don't know why HexChat keeps crashing, and with the vast amounts of networks and channels I have saved, I don't really want to switch to another client, so a fix to this one might help. The only thing I have installed recently that would cause problems would have to be RimWorld, but I don't think that game would cause the frequent crashes I'm receiving.

All the client does is load up all of the networks, and then after about 5 seconds, it stops responding. I have done things like shut down Steam, Skype, and even my web browser to see if anything would work, and I have disabled my antivirus in case that was causing issues, but none of them are. So is there anyone that has a fix to this?

The only other troubleshooting thing I can think of is making sure the program can get through your firewall.

For what it's worth, you could probably switch all of your network and channel data to the SilvereX build of XChat. (http://www.silverex.info)

I'll do that as a last resort.

- disabling your scripts
- reinstalling without scripting support
- updating
- downdating
- rounddating
- just using another build of xchat
